climbed in them today. two big pine removals, solid 6 hours. gaffed out more than once but the bark was flaky and I was obviously getting used to them, but at some point I realized I had not been thinking about my spurs and just climbing. That's what we want in gear, that it just work so well...
just got a set of pole gaffs from the wesspur link above, and it came with 4 long and 4 short screws w/ blue locktight and leather/velcrow booties! Had to use the star key on a socket wrench to break the old screws loose and install the new ones, 10 minute job and they look really cool. Sorta...
I have ran it both with 12" and 14" bars both 1/4pitch and I like 12" better on this saw. Definitely port the exhaust, it will turn it into a screamer. The weight and balance are nice. Awesome climbing saw.
The beauty of TRT is control of the working end through a single interface. Having two independent systems is called DSRT and probably many other acronyms :) Having a single "system" simplifies things and far less clutter.
Point is still that there is no such "TRT" multiscender device on the...
hey Gordon, I am probably by far not alone in wanting to do TRT using the 11.7mm rope(s) I use daily in a variety of situations. There is no device out there that will do it, which why folks are stuffing 8mm lines as a sort of hack. Can you make that device ??
came across this document recently and made me think of this thread.

if you scroll down to the knut h section, there is a picture and description saying it is specific to the hitch hiker...
I wonder if there is a way to effectively use the dogbone from the hitch hiker device with the sticht and force a bend in the rope, or maybe a clamping effect
I just picked it up from the post office and am so stoked to climb on this work of art. My first impression of it falling out the box into my hand was heart skipping a beat surprise of how precise and polished it is. Damn this is actually beautiful. I was expecting cold, rough, mad max ish...
coworker and I were simultaneously pruning a large white oak, he was working 1/2 with the 75' bucket truck and I the opposite side Srt with my akimbo+11.7 blue moon. Neither of us could reach one limb with some crispies out over the home. So he set a line for me, groundee base tied it, and I...
sorry to have put that in an abrasive way. I like the hh2 and climb on it regularly, but for select work. It is an elegant device that I admire constantly, but there are times when this device is not chosen from the gear bag. There are times that I find myself distracted by how this device is...
the most annoying part of the HH to me is dealing with the stopper knot at the dogbone and then never quite getting it right before setting in. Usually I end up retying within a 1/2 hour after climbing. I see you have optimized the lower piece where the carabiner previously sat which is cool...
