Someone please design an industrial level version of the fiskar telescoping pole pruner

The pruner Ryan posted has bypass shears and a max length of 13', according to the link he posted. Are you sure yours is the same model?
No you're right it's different. They are both Tucano, but Ryan has the Tucano X. That is a totally different design for sure. Mine is a detachable head that goes on the same pole as my polesaw head.

Looking at the details for his unit, I really want one. I have definitely been satisfied with the quality of the Castellari products I have.

Thank you, I appreciate the update. And I appreciate your opinion of the brand, thank you.

Fiskars had a UPX86 model that showed up on Youtube with some hard to watch, little pertinent info videos. I can't find that one to buy anywhere. They said it could do 1.25 inch cuts.

I wonder if that didn't get canceled in favor of a unit I see on Amazon that says it can do 1.25 inch. Doesn't look pro easy to use, but for the occasional 1 inch cuts on fine pruning it may fill the bill and have dexterity.

The click button assembly, positive lock, was probably done because on the pruning stik the extension position is held by friction lock and always slips using the saw blade. You can tweak it but then it's hard to telescope. I'll measure my pruning stik aluminum tube and then it can be compared to the other to see if the new one is actually beefier if someone has one they can measure.

update- 1.25" cut capacity 147" (12') total length , D shaped aluminum tube 1.181" across sideways widest diameter, at 90 deg to that from the flat face to the opposite curved surface it's 0.946" thick, the flat face is about 0.85" wide and the best measurement of the aluminum tube wall thickness I could get at the band pull cord exit was 0.060" thick without disassembling one.

Why does your vernier caliper battery always die when you need it? :-( Because that's the only time you check it by trying to use it. In fairness, I get count skips in cold weather which is probably a warning, though cleaning the scale seems to help - probably because I come inside from the cold shop and warm up the battery during cleaning.;)

I've got one coming just for the odd bigger cut when doing fine pruning. Interesting, I didn't know the Fiskars 6 to 12 Big Stick had a slipping issue - I've never used the polesaw attachment with mine. My brother has trees at his house and mentioned sharpening the saw blade. I said don't do that, I've got 4 or 6 new ones I'll send you.

I've got a possibly better recollection that the slipping issue may have been aggravated by plastic parts dimension changes on cold to hot and vice versa days. I.e the telescope clamp. I think I also pulled at least one clamp.bushing assembly apart from the fiberglass bottom during use. Happened years ago. I also did a small internal pull rope repair and when I remounted the head it wasn't as secure as original. I have a collection of new blades too ;) We should design a handle to convert them to handsaws.

I bought a Felco pruner. It's longer than my fiskars, but but weighted well and is pretty light. Smooth action. I didn't realize the rope runs in groove on the outside of the shaft. It's still a 2 to 1 pulley at the head, but one side is terminated at the extension joint so when you pull the shotgun handle to cut slack is made at the pull rope on the end...not bad, just unexpected. Time will tell, but I'm ready to hang up the fiskars.

That almost looks like a licensed version of the fiskars! Does it also have a pull-able end on the cord at the base?

It does, but it pulls the shotgun grip with it. It'll smash your holding hand if you're not paying attention. Maybe that's just different enough to work around another design?

That's exactly the same as the pruning stik. On the pruning stik the pull cord anchors in the orange ball which can separate from the bottom handle and you can use the ball as a rope handle so you hold the very end in one hand (probably over your head) and pull the ball/rope with your other hand to extend your vertical reach - and yes I've banged my hand/foreknuckle countless times when the shotgun handle comes down, when I'm not careful.

The head angle adjust/rope pull amplification casting looks almost the same except short rope w/clevice vs short bicycle chain w/master link. Blade and anvil look same too, even the retract spring. When your retract spring starts to crap out just hook on another small spring parallell to it.
