The Petzl Rig - up close!

Tom, Exactly my point! Now have you been using SRT or Single Line for working a tree, not just ascent? This will be the new thing as soon as we can figure out how to get it approved by OSHA/ ITCC Regs.and Rules. I will never climb DDRT ever again, yes it took some getting used to and figuring...

The Petzl Rig - up close!

Now with all the research that you have done, do you know that if you take a 3 to 4 foot fall on a cinch it will blow out! The Gri-Gri is also considered a belay device and will also blow out at a certain distance of fall. These are not ascenders/ descenders! Funny how we can belay the footlock...

Using single line technique for more than ascent

Hey guys, My initial post about the Rig vs. unicender was not specific enough. I am asking if anyone is actually working a trees crown on an SRT system, not just ascending. We currently only climb on an srt system anchored at the base of the tree. For limb walks, a hand ascender/ pulley...

    Splicing 16 strand

First of all, you need to be using the rigth size wand in a vise on a solid object. Second, Stanley Longstaff, Rest his awesome soul, told me that you only need a 7 inch crossover as opposed to the almost impossible 11 inch that was originally called for. The key to the crossover is a lot of...

    Tight Eye or Girth Eye?

so why have the large eye? This is my point, I don't think the bend ratio on the small eye reduces line strength more tha a large eye that one would girth hitch in this scenario, in rigging I can see the difference due to having your cow hitch tail pass over a throat of a splice as opposed to...

    Tight Eye or Girth Eye?

Now i would think that girth hitching an eye splice reduces more rope strength than a bend ratio of a tight eye, maybe someone could do a breaking strength test... Personally, I like the streamline effect of a supper tight eye that does not move around on my biner and will also easily run...

    Compentency Exam for TCC Judges

    Cinch rope compatibility

Ron, I have not actually seen this device in person, I was only told about it by a few of our industries top innovators the pros and cons. It is not available to the public until the new year as far as I know. As soon as I can get one in my hand I will post more! If only I was sponsered by...

    Cinch rope compatibility

The New Petzl device is called "RIG" and is not available as far as I know until January, unless you know someone in the secret society! It runs around 155.00 US Dollars so far...
