I tried out the Stihl battery powered hedgetrimmers the other day. They appear to be the real deal... plenty of power and very quiet. I was surprised how well it did.
I operate a small engine repair shop (Stihl and Husky dealer)... but I think this is the direction things are going.
Not...
I wouldn't get too worried about the price just yet.
I'm not at all saying the source is wrong, but I'd be surprised if the blocks came in that much higher than ISC's aluminum blocks. DMM is usually pretty competitive with Petzl, ISC and the rest (even given the higher costs associated...
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.
If anyone is going to be in town on Friday feel free to stop by the store and chat us up. (we're open 8 am to 5:30 pm)
The good news is Kask is very much aware of the issue. Rebecca at Kask is working on a quick resolution. If you guys have experienced this issue just email the people you bought your Plasma Work helmet from.
Kask has an improved version that is on its way from Italy. I'm not 100% sure how...
Registration deadline for the Indiana comp is Friday, September 10th.... you know you want to compete so just do it!
I'll make it easy... Here is the form
Re: Anchor Bridge announces Rope Bridge Recall !!
Here's a video showing how to replace the rope bridge on a Weaver Cougar.
More importantly: Please keep up the awareness campaign of this recall. I know everyone is doing their part in getting the word out which is awesome. There has been...

The petzl sequoia isn't ANSII approved here in the for a work harness.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup. Neither is the TreeMotion because, as I understand it, there is no current ANSI standard that is specific to tree climbing harnesses. (Although I'm assuming the 23kN and other relevant standards...
Re: NO KONG GEAR AT TCC\'S!!!!!
For what it is worth: I talked to Buckingham last year about their friction saver rings. They told me the reason they don't mark them is because they don't want to introduce a potential stress or wear point in the ring.

FYI: TreeStuff is offering a $500 cash prize at the comp to the climber with the best total score from the five qualifying events.

is that include out of staters?

Yes, out-of-staters are encouraged to compete for the $500 cash prize.
Great posts above.
We all need to monitor this situation, but I wouldn't worry about Weaver doing the wrong thing. Dick K. and company are good people. I am impressed with all parties thus far.
Good on you Tobe. Good luck in sorting it all out.
Just to be clear: While the investigation is not complete it does not appear the rope bridge failed as a result of the splice itself. The potential causes of a broken bridge are many (type of hardware used, cordage defect, the method of...

CMI, I challenge you to a dual....

LOL.
By the way, I just received a friendly email from the R & D folks at CMI. It appears Tree Machine's essay last fall in TCI was a direct inspiration for the new EXPTWIN.
This might be your crowning acheivement, Tree Machine.
I'll let Tree Machine speak for himself, but he seems to think this design is pretty close to ideal. Solves two or three major design issues he's been preaching about for years.
As Blinky alluded I think TM laid it all out for them last year.
Just came out. Anyone seen or used one? Looks similar to some of the modified designs some of you have created over the years. Tree Machine's came to mind immediately.

I think we are looking at two separate issues:
Should footlocking be removed? No. It is arguably the most exciting event (and the most viewer accessable). It is also features the climbers as athletes which is a big positive. It is the 100m dash of tree climbing. Look at the tv ratings for...
I've been pointing at the autographed MC poster (hanging above the cash register) for the past two days telling everyone that's the 3-time world champ.
I might have to put it on ebay at some point and cash it in.
You can find links to the climber and volunteer registration forms here.
