Kask foam breaking out

I almost ran out and bought one soon as they became available. I really like the face shield since I don't wear safety glasses (I know I really should). I'm glad I decided to wait it seems like it will take a few generations for all the problems to be solved.

Nasty stenches
ear muff issues
foam crumbling
sticky face shield

are all fairly big x's on the con side of the list for me.

Just noticed that both of my sides in the rear of the helmet have broken out.

I'm sorry, this is absolutely unacceptable. The helmets not even 6 months old, what's going to happen in a year? Obviously the foam is defective, and obviously the foam that broke out is exactly the same foam that remains intact.

Kask needs to do something about this ASAP.

Mmmm. I think I will wait for this one.

The good news is Kask is very much aware of the issue. Rebecca at Kask is working on a quick resolution. If you guys have experienced this issue just email the people you bought your Plasma Work helmet from.

Kask has an improved version that is on its way from Italy. I'm not 100% sure how they are going to handle warranty claims, but it sounds like they are going to do right by everyone (unlike another Italian company which will remain nameless).

I will let you know when the new helmets arrive (supposedly in the next couple weeks). In the meantime if you have experienced problems please get ahold of your Kask reseller.

Thanks!

the foam is not meant for lots of sweating IMO, sweat is acidic to a degree, depending on the person and their make-up...web strap suspension is clearly the better choice, or the foam Petzl uses in some of their helmets, never heard of it breaking out and rotting ;)

Just dandy. I took a look at my 4 month old $160 helmet and the whole liner is unglued and loose, the foam is peeling from the plastic and the vent mesh is unglued on one side.

I'm certain Kask won't feel obligated to replace it... I mean, it obviously sat in a hot truck and melted their lameazz glue. Never mind that storing a tree worker helmet in a cool dry place simply isn't an option. Same thing with Petzl's $45 forestry kit, the muffs fell apart after a couple of days of Summer weather... two sets. Just how much would using heat resistent glue add to the cost anyway?

It doesn't cost much to build a plastic helmet, in theory we pay a premium for the kind of quality of design one expects from LIFE PROTECTION GEAR. If the forum allowed, i'd be using a lot of foul language in this post.

This sucks, I'm losing faith, it's all about the stockholders now, screw the customer, just get that money and put it in the shareholder's pockets. Craftsmanship and quality are for losers who won't be in busimess for long.

F_CK!!!

Sherrill has stopped selling the helmets until the "new design" is out.

Here's a question. What the hell am I supposed to do about a hard hat until the problem is fixed? Seeing that it's going to be about two months (probably longer because remember when how many times they pushed back their release date?)

I guess I have to now shell out another 100+ dollars until they get it right, then hope to sell my other hard hat.

Awesome kask.

Hey Italy. Maybe it's time to stick to leather and sports cars, you know, something you can actually do well.

I don't think Italy has the poor quality market cornered.

It's the leadership of the organization that determines whether they will balance quality with cost.

But yeah, love Italian leather shoes, wish I had a lady around worth buying them for.

I have 2 helmets I ordered and have worn for over a year. They came from across the pond. This makes me wonder if it is the same material. I also have no smell and have never washed them. I have 2 new kask ordered from here I never took out of the box that were meant for an employee that didnt work out. Ill have to compare the helmets. Does anyone know if there is a difference between them besides the helmet material itself?

Mine has the gray foam... it's never smelled bad at all. Some people who don't eat well probably have stinky sweat.

Being bald and all, I always wear a bandanna under my helmet.

So, I purchased a new Kask because I have had the demand for an additional groundsman. So, I purchased one. One of the mounts can even accept a Peltor muff at all. I've tried squeezing it in with brute force (Yes, I said, "brute force." I know)

Since I read all of the comments about the face shield, I haven't put mine on. I figure, I'll use it when I really think it will be necessary.

Since there it isn't a suspension type of helmet, I sort of get the feeling I notice every little bump on the head more often. Not, much but I'm thiking if I got hit in the head with something larger, the injury would be worse than having a helmet with a suspension.

Dunno. I bought it because of aesthetics and I heard if fit well. Well, those are only the two things I can say good about it.

I sort of knew deep down inside I should wait until the second generation came out...
