Today....

Nice, big tree. Why so low on the stem with the pull line?
Two if you swipe over. Dead…they tend to be hollow rotten brittle untrustworthy. Fear of breakage. 15k winch on a hill. Back and side weight, stood up with the winch, then drive for speed. Line was probably about level. I figured I’d rather pull harder low than have something bust and total their house.

Topped maple , right drop zone.
My ground worker got some practice...I actually got block and POW out for negative rigging the trunk. I'll finish the last 15' onto a crash pad.
Everything in the trunk will be cut into turning blanks. Bunches of burls.

I think we were looking at the same clouds yesterday! Nice job on the tree. That one photo looked like the leader was in mid-fell but nay. Big stump! Looks like one of those 3 hour crowns followed by 5 hours of raking!

It's only the first week of April and I already feel a bit overwhelmed with all the work coming in and everything on my plate. My last cat passed away somewhat recently, and the shelter has some semi-feral cats I've decided to adopt. They have obviously never lived in a house with a person before, so I'm building them a catio to help them adjust. More projects! But, it's kind of a fun one.

My daughter came with me to pick up some heavy fab tables today

There’s nothing quite like the right tool in the right workspace. Reminds me of some tables I got from a manufacturing business that was shutting down and liquidating. They has some heavy tables with all sorts of holes drilled and tapped in the top for all the fixtures. They ended up being more than sturdy enough for me but allowed crazy clamping and holding options for welding and general repairs. I miss that thing. Hope yours get well used!
