Longer space between the holes in the upper arms provide increased hold. To my best knowledge, the latest BDB's have shorter spacing than the previous version. I also suspect Gordon would customize a set to whatever you need.
I'm OK with the swivel ball clamped in place but the connection area between the swivel ball and harness attachment hole has such a small cross section that it gives me little comfort. However, if it is made from 7075-T6 aluminum and I did the math correctly, that little connecting shaft should...
JeffGu...I thought you were replying to me, but I see you were actually replying to irish93stang.
To my limited knowledge, there was this 2013 version... http://www.petzl.com/security/professional/recalls/recall-zigzag-d22?language=en#.VP-QzPx4oUo .... and then the "early" 2014 version...
I'm not sure about "interesting", but definitely stupid! So stupid that I replaced the photos. I Blame it on new gear rush to take photos and a senior moment. Hope I got it right this time.
The latest version of the zig zag with reinforced links (http://178.237.111.13/files/all/all/communication-zigzag/ZIGZAG-information-031114-EN.pdf) is finally becoming available in the US.
I received this one from http://www.bartlettman.com/ today.
Let the ZZ hate begin. :D
BDB's have been made with a couple of different 'pivot hole to friction link hole' spacing dimensions in the top arms and this effects grip on a given rope. A few of us have made custom top arms with even more hole spacing variations making it hard to compare performance.
Rope condition can...
After side by side comparisons, I realize the Blue craze is not "more static" than Aztec. It has less initial stretch when you weight it, but slightly more bounce (which still isn't much). The RR does handle nicely on this rope.
After running the RR down the full length of a 200' rope, I cut...
Hardened steel teeth against aluminum is not something I worry about with mine.
I just took a look and between the raised rounded blade tip and the nylon (?) guide rollers, I don't think the teeth can even contact the aluminum.
I climbed on a new All Gear Blue Craze 11.5mm rope today. My first impression is that the RR handles it very similarly to Aztec. It climbs with a slightly more static feel than Aztec and I like that.
My only "complaint" is that descending 80' milked a couple of inches of cover. I got sewn eyes...
Apparently not just for the pic..."All Gear's family of 11.5 mm climbing lines is our recommended choice for the new Singing Tree Rope Runner." They have a sale going on sewn and spliced eyes on this family of ropes.
Yes you have....it doesn't work for me at all with the bone...fast trip to ground. :hola:
I'm also the guy that finds Tachyon acceptable but with a more on and off feel than with my favored Aztec.
I've used a heat gun on the edges for a nice finish. It may or may not work in this application.
As to your target market, I think you could eliminate any HH owners using a pulley and tending from the bottom of the biner (at the pulley) or from the bridge ring.
I got 30' of Cherry Bomb in a "Bag O Rope" from Treestuff today. It's been raining so I only got to try it in the basement with a 3/4" bollard. First impression is good although it controls more like Tachyon than my favored Aztec. However, if it is more static (and that is what I'm most curious...
Treestuff has Cougar Grey and Orange in stock and when i asked a few days ago, they are expecting the Blue later this month.
I'm a big fan of the Yale 11.7's which are all color variations of the same rope. I happen to have Aztec in both the green and orange. It performs well with the 3/4"...
