This is right up there with a question my wife asks me from time to time . . . . "Don't you think 11 pairs of backcountry skis are a little too much"?
"Em, no" (and then quickly disappearing back into the Cave of Wonders)?
Someone needs to tell that website guy with the historical museum-like compendium of climbing gear to add all these modern devices to the collection. Times have sure changed in recent years.
I actually don’t understand the gear obsession myself. Pretty content to keep running the same hitch/RW system
Edit:
Then again, I might be the weird one. I still use my backpack from grade school, wear the same pants from 10 years ago and use the same three coffee mugs day and day out.
I too saw that cover photo and felt I have a few missing from my collection... One of my problems is that of organization, and a lot of my extra stuff that doesn't live in my work truck is in Rubbermaid bins on shelves. What that means is that things get kind of buried and out of sight. The other day I was digging around and found a new in box Roperunner Pro I forgot I even had... not to mention the smaller items. When my new shop gets built, I'm literally going to have this tool box setup JUST for my extra climbing gear so I can organize and find it.
