Compact Bulldog Bone

I got 30' of Cherry Bomb in a "Bag O Rope" from Treestuff today. It's been raining so I only got to try it in the basement with a 3/4" bollard. First impression is good although it controls more like Tachyon than my favored Aztec. However, if it is more static (and that is what I'm most curious about) than the Aztec, I'd give it a go. Also tried it with my rope runner adjusted for Aztec and it was good there as well.

Tico, I tried the Bone on Hi-vee and it creeped a bit with the 5/8 bollard, and I weigh 165 pounds. Haven't tried the larger bollard yet.

Maybe you guys both saw that picture on the front page of treestuff yesterday that read "CHERRY BOMB" with a picture of the Rope Runner and with the rope running through it?
:) No, it was a post by someone on the buzz that said they had problems with its performance, using mechanicals I believe...

Not even sure to be honest. Worthaug and I made a good deal so that I could try some of it out, before pulling the trigger on a new rope in spring. So whatever he's got : )

Gave the bone a new look!

Tico, you might try this with the 13mm line if you have not already; install the rope on the bottom arm first like this, swivel the friction link up to the spine and then roll the rope into the notch and then push the friction link down onto the arm, then repeat with the upper arm. Take the rope off in the opposite order. Also you may want to try it with no bollard at all on the 13mm rope.
Yes I had. It's a little less difficult with the lower arm. The upper arm has not 100% link pivoting unless I remove the D ring for tending on top which hindrances the link to properly rotate backwards. I'm planning to add a webbing like somebody had already leaving the sides of the arm clear.
No bollard at all makes the two upper arms to be unstable but it seems OK with the smaller bollard. One question: you think I can also try with the smallest of all bollard brass colored which is inside the 5/8 medium one? Just to see if it works better...?!?!?
And another thing...was the bone you sent to me intended to be used more with fat ropes or it will also support 11.5 or 11.7mm?
Ooops...last one: I noticed there's one link that is shiny and the others are darker...different material???
Anyway, very happy with it...and congratulations Gordon...you're the man!!!

Tico if I were you based on your BDB delivery I would highly recommend finding and trying some ropes that are used in your area. Last thing you want is a 1 or 2 month delivery on every rope you buy.
Well, I think that happens only with boxes that come through USPS...they keep them here forever...I had already ordered a few times with treestuff and being a big company and having a different treatment with Italian customs and delivering with fed ex all their stuff gets here in a week to my door, without the absurdity of the Italian post. The only place I can find something more serious in Italy is here: www.treeclimbingonline.it. At least they have the Tachyon...There's also an interesting one called XP Germany 12mm. http://www.treeclimbingonline.it/product/330/XP-Germany.html.
Not many details given...how many strands??? who knows...how would it work with the bone???
Anyway, I could wait until the cougar blue is in stock or just choose something else...

Treestuff has Cougar Grey and Orange in stock and when i asked a few days ago, they are expecting the Blue later this month.

I'm a big fan of the Yale 11.7's which are all color variations of the same rope. I happen to have Aztec in both the green and orange. It performs well with the 3/4" bollard. I haven't noticed any milking with it. I feel it is easier to moderate my descent speed with the Aztec than with Tachyon.
it may sound crazy but I like the blue colored rope...usally I can't stand orange. Yellow and red if they're not combined it's fine, but when they're together there's nothing worse for me...It reminds me the roman flag!!! Bleah!!! (I must be nuts for real)!

I just called the company and they said it's a 16 strands rope and there's also another one not in the list called Rool, same thing, just different color, red and black...not bad!
How would the bone perform with a 16 strand rope?

Tico, go back a few pages and there is a discussion about 16 and 12 strand ropes. Seems like some like them, but they are few and far between. I tried some arbormaster......didn't like it. For weight reference, I'm about 215 out of the shower.

Tico, You could try the bronze bollard, just check for wear with each use. It seems that with the Bone 11mm is the lower limit (only with very light weight) depending on the rope manufacture; and 13 mm is the upper limit, depending on the rope manufacture.
