I like it! Out here in Hawaii we do a lot of palms (cocos mostly) and I use the “squeeze” all the time. On Leaners it gives quite a bit of lateral support too. Great for removals and trims. Nice to see a new version but damn that’s pricey! A rope friction saver is not the same. Have tried to...
That was kinda my point in the original post. Use whatever you want, this was just “another method” and it works pretty well. I use the tuefelberger thimble prussic the most tbh. Again thanks for all the feedback!
I tried it with the pinto on a loop ( same one as pulleysaver) works well, a bit heavy and not really much of an advantage Ring is lighter and easier for me.
I’m in Hawaii and do quite a bit of coco palms (basically a near-ish vertical spar) On removals I defrond the crown, open up the cinching loop and lasso it over and cinch. It’s pretty quick and I have a few sharpie marks on my line at around 10’, cinch the prussic, rig or flop and chunk depends...
So I made a thing. Based on an adjustable friction saver concept. Seems to work pretty good. Setup is slower than more traditional SRT spar methods but works pretty good. For conifers, palms or single spar it works really smooth. You can even leave it on the line for regular canopy till the...
Reviving this thread. Any known way to get a foot ascender on the DMM shank geckos? I’m looking at a machine shop to drill/tap the shank to possibly attach a modified plate for a CT removable foot ascender. (I’d rather not drill into my gaffs)
The lanyard adjuster with 5meters of rope was under 100 bucks so, not too pricey.
I dunno, maybe because they have the zillion specific to Arb from petzl? I wouldn’t be surprised if it crosses over and gets Z133’d.
yeah, the rope wrench on there was a silly “what if”?
I’m definitely using as lanyard. I’m surprised I haven’t seen it used in Arb settings yet. I put the wrench on there just playing around. It releases smoother in single leg with the wrench. Without it, it’s kinda “on/off” jerky in single leg. As regular lanyard it works great.
Okay so playing around in the shop with some things. Petzl Adjust lanyard ( rope access, tower guy lanyard) gonna try it in tree. But!!! Just geeking it up I thought hmm I wonder... And stuck my wrench on it.
Warning ⚠️ just concept, didn’t actually climb it. Seems like it has possibilities.
I...
I agree with TreeVB. Both are great! I use both on single leg at times and they both smooth. I have a 20’ tri tech sewn eye coming for the zillion. The ART I use mostly in trees. The zillion I also use as single leg choker to my bridge when trimming or removal on cocos. Wet, dry, dirty or new...
Haven’t needed it yet but I can see it being handy for holding position. I usually have a hitch cord on saddle for the occasional “tail second system” thing.
thanks for all the great feedback and discussion. My initial intention was “ how to do a v rig with the one hole zigzag” I actually used this on Wednesday on a mango removal, Didn’t need to but proof of concept it works great, definitely need friction savers it has way too much friction. The...
Thank you for your input.Good advice on rope angle. The”v” or “M” rig is a solution for work positioning in rare cases and used on occasion at best. I do use a second climb system much more than this method. I don’t see your comparison to the death triangle though. Yes it does matter your rope...
This is something I concocted with the older version zigzag. I haven’t climbed on it like this, heck I’ve only used a v rig once. I’d normally do second system if needed (getting into the right positioning is more positive) feedback and thoughts appreciated. I took a quick video but not sure how...
I’m thinking as second adjuster for double ended lanyard. I’ve got an ocean 6 coil in thimble right now which doesn’t adjust or slack tend very well. Limb passing is the only time I use it. Pain in the butt. (it most times just keeps the tail tidied up)
