[Posting as if I'm on Tree-free Zone]
Cancel or suspend Football. With that, a series of other things go, like cheerleading, flag twirling, and the bands can get back to playing rap or jazz.
When my budget gets tight most of my play gets wiped off the plans.
Then the students, enraged in...
I would recommend avoiding the open braid stuff like water skiing rope. It cuts and burns the hands.
Rock climbing line is way too stretchy even if it fits.
Something that's the right diameter with a high braid count and doesn't pick. Try West Marine for an assortment. They usually have some...
I hope education of the customer continues, and maybe a little target marketing, such as (here comes my knuckles down for a bad rap) Landscape Architects, Developers, and City Planners.
Nice group of guys. Its great to see competitors come back from years previous and show improvement.
Jimmy, you have a vid of your climb? I had to catch a ride back to Big D and was loading out as you were walking up.
Welcome treemd.
I can't recommend high enough an adjustable system and tuning it to a moderate extension. I find it more efficient and rhythmic to take shorter strides (6-8" per advance) in my natural working range than huge lunges and hassling with the inevitable hangups.
At the bottom of my...
I was reflecting on where to put the bight on, say a cow hitch. Lacking a Tree Climber's Companion or a Sherrill Catalog when the rope is being tied, I have to rely on my memory.
Could someone really clarify the wheres and whys so I can get it locked into my memory. If I'm thinking about it...
When I adopted SRT as my main method on-rope I only considered it for the combined ascent, work positioning, and descent method. Your mileage may vary, but let's keep to the thread's topic.
That said, I started out with a ladder descender for the base anchor system and a munter mule (did I...

This was introduced at St. Louis ITCC.
Keith, I see you got a good run at it. Nice to see you being pace-setter for most of the day.
TxTCC belayed speed climb had three stations. Climber had just to tap the bell at each one. Two were off the beaten path...

Experts say have a professional cable the tree.
I believe insurance companies ought to weigh in with the tree care folks rather than pay for...
I had to think hard about my first SRT systems, and then Tom's pict woke me up. I think the ladder is still around here, somewhere near my gaffs. Biggest drawback was to always had to have tension on it or the whole system would invert and not always revert fairly. I think my mentor suggested a...
Heads up for those not familiar with the park location. Follow the map from the first posting.
Google Maps constiently routes me to Adams Park, several blocks West.
Looking forward to being there! Gosh, another Arborwear convention.
Bringing my Uni and a RADs system.
Hopefully Curtis will be joining, and there's one more seat available coming in from North Dallas 'burbs. PM me if you want to ride along.
I'm by no way condoning the practice, but...
There's a tree on my campus that has an old-style cement cavity fill. It must be 20+ years old because it is difficult to spot since the tree has fully encased it.
Expanded metal may have more strength to embed a little in the tree.
Here's another one, "in action". Had to make it more difficult because there was a camera around.
Navigating through a crotch with this system isn't as difficult as other methods.
