Has anybody tried a DMM XSRE biner for hooking up the HAAS connection plate?
Maybe it's too weak? It's rated for 4kN only. A regular biner is a bit bulky....
Didn't the Cinch engage while traversing or what was the problem? A bit qurious since I'm waiting for my Cinch to be delivered. Hope I didn't order it in vain. :muyenojado:
Thanks for the tip AJ. I found a dealer in the UK that could deliver. So 1 piece of Cinch on its way to my Captain kit plus some other goodies. Shoot, can't order just one thing while you're at it. ;)
Seems nobody can deliver a Trango Cinch around here. Bummer.
Found a Web Shop for rock climbers in Spain (!) who had it in stock. That would cost me 113 USD. Man...
And there wasn't even a coffee mug included in that price. :envidioso
My Captain hook kit just arrived!
Although AJ already did some testing with the GriGri, I just had to try it out myself. Well, AJ was absolutely right, no doubt about it. GriGri and the 10 mm rope supplied with the hook is a big no-no.
I'm not that keen on using a neck tether either. A chest harness is an good option.
Swings harness seems to be a good choice:

I'm using a chest harness from Petzl:

You can use...
And furthermore, if the users of the BDB is called a boner, should the correct term for users of the hook be a hooker? ;)
Anyways, my captain is in delivery. Really excited about it!
:birra:
Yes, I noticed that one of the pins wouldn't go in deep enough. Would you recommend to file the pin down Gordon? I mean, could it be a safety or practical issue? I haven't encountered any problems yet though.
@moss ; would you say that the hook should be used only horizontally? I'm thinking it could be used to advance to a higher TIP, but maybe that's a bad idea?
