Ultra slings - spliced loops strength

I think it’s technically a hitch @JeffGu I trust ultra slings for anything I throw into them. Just inspect them like any other rope product. I’ve managed to break two whoopie slings over the years. Both were well past their prime and in a very low risk set up. I’ve retired prolly close to 50...

    Crane Safety Climber School 2019

I’m sorry but my boss dropped the ball and didn’t make it before the class was full. Depending on the weather here I might still drive out Friday. It’s a long way to hang out for a few hours though

    Petzl zig zag plus.

Mine s still loving the sterling tendril. Not sure of the size but it works well. I’ve got my ZZ on blue moon at the moment but that’s because I needed a longer rope and that was in SRT with a Reon Rounds tether. Worked beautifully that way as well

The best configuration for mini skid highway, what plywood dimensions?

I think @FJR uses 4x4 sheets. Not sure if thickness though. I stick to 4x8x3/4 because of running the bucket truck on them. If I still was climbing everything it would be 1/2” for the mini in 4x8

    Climbing an extra few feet

This is why I don’t leave stubs! Besides the headache of things snagging on the way down. I recieved two broken ribs from leaving stubs at my top cut when they didn’t let it run. Truth be told it was also my inexperience at the time. I’d find a better pad though. If you decide to buy pole gaffs...

    Daily rate freelance

I don’t freelance. I do “side work” though. By “sidework” I mean fully insured and a legal company. I work full time for a boss and put in another 40 on “side work” for myself. One of the two is going bye-bye soon. I’m getting to damn old to pull these hours. Worst part is missing out on life...

    Elbow pain

These guys are prolly offering better advise than I can. My hands and elbows hurt like hell when I first switched to SRT. I went from 1/2” rope to 11.7 mm. Not a huge difference in my mind but gripping it caused the issue. I put in a pair of gloves and it went away. Could’ve been that or that I...

    Rigging bollard from forestry suppliers?

I own one and rarely use it because it kinda sucks. The ratcheting action doesn’t so much aside from pretensioning because the rope won’t tail very well. I think I paid a hundred bucks brand new when Karl Kuemmerlings went out of business. I just keep it for the times I need more friction...

    Climbing an extra few feet

The foot loop thing can work. Learning to use spurs will be beneficial though. If you’re going to be doing a lot of dead ash please learn how to read them. Not questioning your abilities but they are quick to decline and are not to be trusted. My area has been hit hard and we’re getting to the...

More Light to a Golf Course Green

Looks thin to me but as you have stated the moss covered a majority of what appeared to be canopy. I’ve done the same thing cutting out the various ivy species in our area. Actual cutting of the tree is minimal but looks extreme. Nicely done. I too would like to see recovery pictures.

    New Tendon Timber Ropes

Well I was tagged. Send me a 150’ or 200’ hank and I’ll review it. I’m pretty partial to Yale’s 11.7 series. Pretty much my go to rope. I rotate over 1000’ of it in my climbing. I can use it SRT and Ddrt ( sorry I’m not gonna use the newest acronyms) on several different systems. I’m open to...
