Climber forman

There are a few biggins out here. Our pecans and oaks get pretty large, horizontal limbs hanging over homes.

Grass, like I thought - Texas grass. ;) You and @rico for the win today.

I was in this little live oak, lol. Couldn't find my throw balls, so I just backed up to it and jumped in... Felt like vacation, without any targets to worry about.

So on a side note, we had a climber try out this week, well he said he was a climber. He had the gear and said he was experienced with crane removals. Put him in the tree with crane and had him set a chain and he made his way to the cut. I had to tell him everything he had to do. Had him lanyard in to the trunk and told him to pull his climbing line from the ball. Next thing I see is him falling... Luckily it turns out he hadn't untied from the ball so took a wild swing into nowhere...

So if he had got hurt would that be on me because he lied about his abilities?

I hate hiring

Been there. Had a climber try out and by the time I saw him starting the saw I realized he had no idea what he was doing. Scary when you can’t trust people.

I would of loved to be the crane op on that tree Tyler
It was an epic project. We were picking at the max of my comfort level on a lot of the cuts. the back horizontal limbs, opposite the chassis were the most pucker inducing. I had a 1200lb limit to my picks for a good chunk of the tree, and that in not a lot of tree when it is a historic oak.

On another note, this was the first time I got to work with the multi part block on this machine. the trunk picks were right on the cranepedestal, but where we had to load the trailer was at the max of the load chart. The wood picks came in between 12 and 14 thousand pounds.

I might be able to come help for a week after I finish this contract I’m on at the moment. Gotta talkcwithcthe bosses first but I could use a workcation

@pctree I could come for at least 2 weeks, maybe more, if you need the help. I'd love to come climb with your crew and learn from one of the innovators of the industry.

Tyler I really appreciate the offer, however I really am looking for somebody to run the day to day business so I can spend more time trying to get Ropetek going again. My best friend and machinist who has built all the Wraptor parts is dying of cancer. Machinists are scarcer than climbers. Ideally I would like to just run the crane for big jobs and have time to build Stuff again.

I'm seriously thinking at this point of making my crane remote controlled and climbing myself, just be very selective about the jobs I take. Seems a shame as I could keep a good crew slammed busy but I'm just past the point of working 7 days a week which I have done for years. Too much stress

Paul,

If you need machinist help, send me a PM. I had tried sending one previously when I saw a posting about your issues. I also own a machine shop in addition to our tree service.

Thanks,
John
