    Rigging Point Failure

I'm not sure. Willow oak are solid trees in my experience. It was just one of those things I suppose but you may be entirely on point about the compartmentalization. Didn't have that little voice but I do now for these situations.

Thanks for commenting. No need to explain your input reasoning. I appreciate your input and didn't take it any other way than genuinely with the best intensions. Interesting approach for your rigging plan. I'll keep that as an option for sure. I appreciate the complements. Very kind of you...

So, this is a long story but.......Late last year Ben was involved in a very serious accident at work. He had a large dead top in a tree blast him. He had a multitude of injuries, breaks, lacerations and a head injury. He was unconscious for a period of time and had a couple surgeries. I...

    Rigging Point Failure

Thank you. Yes in hindsight I shoulda but fell into that "I've never had to in the past" trap and it got me. I don't typically do removals but it'll be on the radar next time around.

    Rigging Point Failure

I'm right there with ya in that age bracket. Also coming back after 8 years not regularly climbing is a whole additional amount of mental noise I never had before. This is the first moderately sized hardwood removal I've done without a crane in about 10 yers.

Thanks. Yeah that seems to be the consensus on site.

    Rigging Point Failure

There was a piece hanging after the failure so I moved the block off to the side after having it sent back up so I could rig that down. You can see it hanging in the pic with me in it.

It did create a lever. I honestly thought it was a non-issue. I guessed wrong. Yep coulda been very worser. Thanks

    Rigging Point Failure

It was a Willow Oak. I didn't see any Fungal signs but all the old pruning cuts were decayed. I didn't find a single cut that compartmentalized outside the stem. You are way up on all that stuff. I'm not very familiar at all with the fungals. Maybe I should be. It would have been good to...

    Rigging Point Failure

Soooo.......I blew out a rigging point yesterday. I'm pretty sure it's my first. Nobody got hurt and no damage. The piece landed in the grass next to the pool instead of in the pool. Luckily my PSP wasn't in that lead nor was I lanyard in to the lead that failed. Also, I try to stay out...

    New device from ISC

I'm wondering if SRS really does need some additional friction to slow down the wear.

Nice Guy Dave can't say enough good stuff about this set-up. We talked for about an hour about it.

    TCIA WTF?

Daniel. I'm out of the loop. Can you expound on what August did or is doing referenced above? What I hear largely is that many feel TCIA is not providing a product commensurate to the cost of participation. The training cost is high and the recertification fee is also fairly steep. Many...
