Soooo.......I blew out a rigging point yesterday. I'm pretty sure it's my first. Nobody got hurt and no damage. The piece landed in the grass next to the pool instead of in the pool. Luckily my PSP wasn't in that lead nor was I lanyard in to the lead that failed. Also, I try to stay out from under my rigging and luckily I was able to do so. If things hadn't have lined up the way they did, the outcome would have been less than ideal. I was maybe 30-40' up and had already rigged 3 pieces into this system. 2 other climbers on site and everyone kinda thinks there was and old shear plane fracture in the lead that had compartmentalized over time. All I really saw was one bulge in the lead and didn't think anything of it. Granted I didn't give it a 360 but I spiked past it and it was solid. The rope man didn't have too much tension either. He was letting things run. IDK. maybe I missed something. I don't think I did but maybe. We'll see how the pics load. Keep your head on a swivel. It slowed my thought process down. I was kinda focusing on the entirety of the tree instead of the actual task I was doing. Busy monkey brain kinda stuff. Getting back to climbing has been great but way much more of a mental game than I had anticipated. Anyway, appreciate your constructive thoughts 4th pic is after the pulley had been moved off to the side and above to I could rig than hanging piece that hadn't fallen. Last pic is a view of the site under the tree.
