New device from ISC

It’s a new product high in demand. So there isn’t stock on shelf but more of a preorder and when the delivery comes in the suppliers disperse as fast as they come in
PDX area here. noone around here has a Reflex or even seen one IRL. none of the local shops carry them. Whenever I check online, they are always out of stock.

Is there no market for this product or is the sales/distro side of this company really that inept?

Meanwhile I see the Throttle and Blackbird in stock and on sale :p

I'll probably get my Reflex in a few weeks from what I was told, then I just need a good few jobs that aren't just spur removals to put it to the test.

I have one climb on mine.. I have briefly sat in a saddle with a zigzag and didn’t like it. I do really like the reflex, it did take two separate jumps’ of a startling 1/2” but probably because I was on a 11mm rope.

Do you use 11mm much? I know it's the smallest the Reflex is rated for, and many/most mechanicals don't go down that small. 11mm is what the Z3 ascender I just got runs on, so I'm looking into how everything might fit together.

I was thinking of getting the reflex for the same reason. Before I could get the reflex, AWAH came out with the Z3 mini which is rated up to 13mm and works fine with bluemoon and hyperclimb. Those are the only two I've tested it on.

It could have been something else. Just an odd popping jolt unlike a line settling. Maybe it was just one link jumping into place.

I was running kernmaster with the red core, the more static one. A rope I love but also avoid as it’s hard on my hands

Where is that for sale? All I'm seeing is the 10mm or 11mm versions. I know Ryan/HowNot2 mentioned a 13mm pully at some point and specifically mentioned arborist work, but my brief searches aren't showing anything like that.

I took one out this morning and tried it SRS on 7 different ropes (Drenaline, Vega, Blue Moon, Blaze, KMII, 1.5 mm Blue 32, and 1.7mm Blue 32). It ran fine on all of them, but was especially smooth on Drenaline, Vega, KMIII, and Blaze. With my 180 lb load there was no creep at all like there sometime is with my Zigzag. With my chest roller It tends up the rope like glass. And it is really nice coming down. I think my Zigzag is going to be sitting in the bag a lot from here on out. But it remains to be seen how it does in really long descents in big trees.

It has a lower wll but otherwise is smaller and lighter and works on arborist double brade ropes up to 13mm.

They also have another one called the Tank that does 13mm and has a higher wwl but i dont think they are selling it yet.

Huh. Yah I was going to say it looks way smaller, that is a much wider range or ropes (based on swapping pulleys?) and that working load limit is WAY lower. Interesting but not surprising it's only available through a Chinese app at this time. (nothing against China btw)

When you order one through HowNot2 (US distributor) they use a totally different wheel/pulley for even 10 or 11mm ropes. I'm guessing on the Mini it isn't a single pulley that is supposed to work on that entire size range? Is there one for each rope size?

Anyways, this was supposed to be a Reflex thread. On that note, I just got a shipping notification for the one I ordered through Arbsession.

I'm really curious what they intend to do to it besides replacing worn parts (i.e. giving you a new one/yours with all wear elements replaced.
Ya and honestly for it to wear out to have bits replaced is wild. It barely shows any signs of wear. These are the pictures I sent them. Never bombed out of a tree on it. Not really used in sappy trees ever even. Freshly cleaned and oiled (I used krown). Wondering if it’s a fully new unit with updated materials or something.

Yea that looks super fresh. It's obviously seen minimal wear, so if they're just replacing it... that is not gonna be sustainable for them if they are actually wearing out that fast, and their plan is to replace them one at a time

Maybe someone needs to crack a vernier and measure some wear gaps or bollard spacings to see if there's really a wear problem or whether the design gets/got tweaked? Make for an interesting rabbit hole.
