    Use a length of rope that best suits the size of tree and the scope of work. Design your system to manage the least amount of rope. Be creative, short ropes(80-100) can be bought cheap and are extremely useful. SRT reduces the need to drag monster climbing lines through the canopy.

    I guess I've been lucky, the only time I got mine stuck was actually last week. Operator error though, was rushing. One of my favourite tricks is to release the strap on a bore cut from 10' away. It's not as exciting as making the cut at the stump but it's come in handy many times.

    I had a bad habit of using my handsaw to reach for ropes. Seems pretty stupid now but it was something I got taught early on and bad habits are hard to break. Having it right on the scabbard takes away those tendencies.

    Made this badboy from a telescoping mini flagpole, coathanger and a scabbard from a kids bubble toy. Has an 8' reach, super light and packs away secured with a velcro strap. Game changer.

    You got it. You can also leg lock on a ladder against a building. If you pass your leg over a rung then back over the next rung you can lock the top of your foot over the rung or beam. Not really applicable to tree work but handy for awkward jobs on a ladder.
