Controlled speedline with tag line for 2/3 of the upper foliage. Then lowering line and tag line into the pocket where the lead failed and ripped out branches on the way down. I won’t say it was easy. It was probably one of the most physically demanding jobs I’ve done in a long time.

Here’s one I just did today. 51” incense cedar reduction. Lost a large lead in a recent windstorm. We were slated to remove it but after talking with the client changed it to a significant reduction.
Another method I use on trees that have been pruned like this is to take out the largest branches sprouting from the old cuts and then shorten the smaller ones with a pole clip. You end up with a significantly smaller tree but it still has a canopy.
