Though I did LOL at pic 3, I still think you guys are acting like a bunch of women watching soap operas (no offense Frax), reveling in someone's ignorance, to cover your own insecurities... Tom, you're the Jerry Springer of arboriculture.. How does someone like Jerry Springer live with himself, acting like that?

that may be so Daniel, but at least they're not revelling in their insecurities to cover their ignorance, which is what you do when you post your videos.

You are stuck in the middle.. I look at that at that type of operation, with compassion, as a symptom of the poor state of education in our industry, and look for ways to improve the industry. Rather than feeling compassion for that company, you'd rather make fun of it, just so you can feel better about yourselves.. Those pictures make me feel sad for the state of ignorance in our industry.. They make you all feel happy, so you can point the finger and say "that guy is the stupid idiot out there with a chainsaw, not me"..

When the truth is half of you are just as ignorant, clumsy and incompetant relative to someone like Big Jon, Chisholm, Roachy or Pat, as that company is relative to you. You are projecting your own ignorance on them.

You'll find that most treeworkers (the vast majority 99.9%)in the world dont know who these people are, treeworkers in general are not the kind of people who pander to celebrity.

This is why you'll never be taken seriously by the arb industry

Re: Today\'s drive-by removal

The point that seems to be missed here is that my friend, with no Arbo knowledge RECOGNIZED that something was wrong. Go back and read what I read.

Consumers rarely RECOGNIZE good or bad tree care.

We are expected to RECOGNIZE right/good work.

RECOGNITION is the point of my observation and the point that I am trying to make here.

It seems like Daniel has the right mindset with regard to education, but if I may mix metaphors, I would contend that he is "pissing up Superman's cape" on this particular thread.

Home owners get what they pay for. I can always see which HO love their trees from the one's whose trees are not their priority. Lot's of HO only care that the trees are cut not how they are cut. Here in Barbados tree cutting is about saved dollars not tree health and care. Very few HO give a damn about professionalism, hard business to educate them.

Well said Grover I live here in Barbados, a obscure little tropical paradise where no one knows those arbs mentioned I only know of them from looking at their posts. I don't look up to people but it's nice to hear and learn from those who have loads of experience and knowledge to pass on. Treebuzz is so refreshing and has helped me learn so much. I have been raising my bar every day since dabbling in the buzz. Celebrity...NO but learning YES.

REALLY?????
You called it "too much to pass up".. sounding like a kid in candy store.. We should be crying, not celebrating.

If Big jon drove by that job, he might have cracked a little smile, but he wouldn't have said a word, and he certainly wouldn't have taken/posted pictures..

Why don't you marry big Jon then?

Re: Today\'s drive-by removal

On vacation thru CA. We stayed at Lucerne, CA for night. In the morning we heard chainsaws reving up. I went over for a closer look.
Visiting with the boss\owner of biz. In biz for 22yrs. Start of the fouth day to job site. Large oak at gound level 7-8ft diameter. Climber cutting 3-ft blocks, long swing over house, no tag line to swinging wood, hand line thru crotch, no block pulley. Groundman wrapping tree at base.
My wife said that was painful to watch. Five man crew - six day for tree removal.
So after 22yrs some people still dont get it!!
Wife took some pics and short vid. Ouch!

Re: Today\'s drive-by removal

Good post, Tom. You have got a really good point about clients turning the blind eye (if that is correct english) to whats going on, when poor treecare is being performed.
Around here, we have some pretty bad examples. :-(
And it seems like nothing is happening when it comes to the authorities...
