Throw Bag with Rings on Both Ends?

[ QUOTE ]
Lindens. I know some huge ones that you think you could find a nice union to aim for, but NO! You have to throw your climb line with a monkey fist.

I never knew of the ThrowPod. Seems a great deal like RopeShield's design. A while ago, I swore the day one of my Harrison Rockets blew out that I would buy a RopeShield. I'm still waiting for that day.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yep! The last four Mondays have been pruning Lindens in the Back Bay. There's been progressively more starting low and advancing my rope. I do actually enjoy pruning them though.

I'm not sure what the deal was with the guys who made the throwpod and Thomas, but they are absolutely onto something with the missle style design.

There are some significant concerns with the missle shape but as long as you're aware and use a bag when appropriate, you're all set.

I make them to any weight 10>18oz plus or minus etc.

As for getting stuck, they hardly ever do, some of the busy tree surgeons in the UK think 'the slug' is a winner and out of a 1000 throws only got stuck twice.

I can put you in touch with an avid supporter.

Re: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly!

man this is starting to look like an infomercial throw down. All of this shameless self promoting is getting old. Start your own thread about your thingy, and just humbly post a link and say "hey you might want to look at this."

Jamin I've also had the desire for a bag with small rings on either end. When my shot is over the limb I like but to far out with little stubs or fuzz. I will tie a small screw link on the end and attach to the cord loop. I will pull the bag back up to the limb and alternate which end of the line I pull to flip the bag over the limb. I've managed to get about 2-3' of "pop" to clear stubs, and suck in the line to the trunk.

Re: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly!

Evo would you be willing to post a picture to help me see what you are doing there.

Also is there any information anyone knows of on technique for isolating limbs and various time saving things. I get it done but, I'm sure someone has some better tricks.

Thanks a lot.

Re: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly!

It's a bit of a derail, but...

To leap over, or plow through smaller sprouts or stubs (sacrificial, or course), you can tie a piece of wood into the middle of the length of your throwline. You only need a piece roughly the size of a typical hammer handle. After pulling it up to the branch, you can work it back and forth over the branch to walk the throwline along the limb and closer into the branch collar.

That's a good tip, I'll try that Oceans, thanks.

Oops!!! I didn't mean to be any part of a derail. I don't know of any two ring bags. I use both ends of the RopeKnight that way at times by slipping a split ring in the provieded hole.

So sick of seeing that damn rope armour thing! It seems like the designer of it is trying to flog it on every thread. I can't believe anyone would have that much trouble with a throw bag to NEED to own on of these. Best throw weight i've ever used was a 12oz snapper sinker it never got stuck and was just like a little missile if you missed or yanked it too hard out of the tree just like what i imagine this rope armour rubbish would do

Sirnick
Your comments are most unfair.
If you haven't used the RopeKnight/RopeShield and feel there is no need for the products then your comments are of little help to those who are hear to learn.
Treebuzz is hear to educate and promote products, techniques and the science.
You will find a great majority of my posts are sincere in their attempts to educate with regards to other designers products, arboriculture, arbclimb techniques and unrelated tree freezone.
Sorry you feel this way

After reaming my hands on some fling it last night trying to pull my climbing line through I just tied it off and pulled down on the climbing line and the fling it broke free the little sucker branch it was stuck on and dropped right down into the desired crotch.

I would like to add that Rope Knight thing to my arsenal if not just to have a collectors item. Nice looking tool Rope Shield. Your advertising is a bit over the top for me but you go for it, man. Do you design all that artwork or are you getting help?

Well mine is cheap, we need money to pay bills, kids need alot to get to school and back, i'm not a show off, but wanted to show the design.

I'm an IT Professional, so if you want all singing dancing extravaganza - please ask.

I would not fill a page like that, and hijack a thread, unlike it has been done on every forum, in everyland.

Desparation at its worst i'm afraid.

Tuttle how much for the slug? Can you make a 12 oz? I'm interested and would be willing to give one a shot....

[/ QUOTE ]

Because you have requested, I will make one free of charge and pay for post.

Hows that for value :)

Thanks Adkpk for your thoughts and compliment.

Regarding the "over the top", I could tone it down some, the difficulty is how to convey honest passion for what you believe with out coming across as a show off. i hope most will see it as passion. I have put my money where my mouth is, many times ie solely paid for exhibitions in the UK, Germany, Ontario and many many times in the US. Many of you know me through the trade shows and know that I am true to our vocation and our product.

I am self taught with regards to advertising, marketing etc and fly solo with a bit of help from my very patient wife and children.
I enjoy the challenges of a large tree reduction or tree removal and teetering on the edge of serious injury as much as I do travelling and demoing RKs to Arbclimbers in the world. My lifes passion is the vocation of arboriculture i committed myself to 36 consecutive months of practical and acedemic training on a botanical gdn and botanical study tours.I ahve alot to share and the RK is but only a small part of the whole.
I have had the opportunity to meet many arbclimbers who also endure the pains of arbclimbing and share in that love and of the thrill of wrestling trees and limbs to the ground, we are a special bunch of humans who invent specialized tools that we feel needs to be shared with others

All the artwork and photos are mine and tooled with Microsoft publisher/ppt/draw etc.
I use windows for most everything else videos, photos etc

The hardest part about inventing something that works for you is trying to share with others.

Thanks to people like Luke @ Treestuff, Johannes @ Freeworker and John @ Atreas and many arbos like yourself who suggest to Keep On Keepin On.

I won't give up and love the opportunity to make friends.

I ahve done my best with the RA and will continue to fight for a Lead free industry and TCCs.

Its your choice in the end.
a choice with the added information we ahve stumbled upon and shared on this open forum.

Thanks Mark and Tom for allowing this to happen.
Cheers
