The Past 4 Years

I am not a fan of any politician, in my mind they all serve themselves and not the public. It's strange to see people claiming Trump wants to divide the country but anyone who doesn't like him takes the same stance. Trump supporters versus us.

Financially life has been good the past 4 years. The local housing market has boomed and my family has lived well. If I have to deal with a clown on Twitter in the meantime why do I care.

I am interested to see where our tax rates go from here and how many of our civil liberties are infringed upon with this new administration.
Right on! Results speak for themselves! I want a leader that clears the way for me to be successful. I don't want public-trough parasite telling me that hard work, self reliance and ambition are racist or 'privileged' properties.
Trump's probably not for the wussies in need of coddling and pacification, but for us that simply want to be left alone, I'll put up with his brash ways and prosper in spite of it.

Washington is a shit-hole because we keep sending shit-heads down there. To quote the Joker: "This town needs an enema!". Salvation for this county's governance is LESS of it.
The more we reject the intrusion and hegemony of the State, the less dependent and apathetic the sluggards amongst us will be. The poison of big bureaucracy! Free-market capitalism, Individual responsibility and the abolishment of the welfare state will get this country back in gear!

The past four years are merely the culmination of the past forty+ years. This shitball really started rolling once the dollar was untethered from gold and sold out to petrol. Carter was the last decent human being to occupy that position regardless of his political positions. A lot of shit was added to the ball with Reagan, Bush Sr. And the coming out of the neocons. The elimination of the Fairness Doctrine opened the door to hyper partisanship and the fake news industry.

Clinton fell many times into the honey traps and did the bidding of the true Owners. With the neoliberal movement ascending and corporate Republicans during clintons time finance and multinational corporations sold out Americans and the planet in general for greed in service of the old God of Mammon.

And just when you thought the shitball couldn't get any bigger came the 21st century union of the Neos....neocons and neolibs after 9/11 which only became obvious to me during the early years of Obama when he sold out his lofty rhetoric of hope and change all in the name of self preservation.

I imagine that one of the first visits an incoming president gets is from the Agents letting them know where the line is and the role they must play in order to not cross that line or else be JFKed, RFKed, Wellstoned, etc. same goes for Trump...he played his role and eventually crossed the line over the past two months and was told to STFU after the spectacle at the Capitol or else.

George Carlin in his last comedy special explained it all in 3 minutes with his big club rant....its a big club and we ain't in it. It seems at this point we're headed toward some techno neofuedal dystopia of sorts and no one and no party can stop it. All this division and distraction and the house will not stand which may be a goal. Forecast looks cloudy folks with a chance of shitballs

Cheers

“This morning, I realized that everything is about to change. No matter how I vote, no matter what I say, lives are never going to be the same.
I been confused by the hostility of family and friends. I look at people I have known all my life so hate-filled that they agree with opinions they would never express as their own. I think that I may well have entered the Twilight Zone.
You can't justify this insanity. We have become a nation that has lost its collective mind.
We see other countries going Socialist and collapsing, but it seems like a great plan to us.
Somehow it’s un-American for the census to count how many Americans are in America.
People who say there is no such thing as gender are demanding a female President.
Universities that advocate equality, discriminate against Asian-Americans in favor of African-Americans.
Some people are held responsible for things that happened before they were born, and other people are not held responsible for what they are doing right now.
Criminals are caught-and-released to hurt more people, but stopping them is bad because it's a violation of THEIR rights.
People who have never owned slaves should pay slavery reparations to people who have never been slaves.
After legislating gender, if a dude pretends to be a woman, you are required to pretend with him.
It was cool for Joe Biden to "blackmail" the President of Ukraine, but it’s an impeachable offense if Donald Trump inquiries about it.
People who have never been to college should pay the debts of college students who took out huge loans for their degrees.
Immigrants with tuberculosis and polio are welcome, but you’d better be able to prove your dog is vaccinated.
Irish doctors and German engineers who want to immigrate to the US must go through a rigorous vetting process, but any illiterate gang-bangers who jump the southern fence are welcomed.
$5 billion for border security is too expensive, but $1.5 trillion for “free” health care is not.
If you cheat to get into college you go to prison, but if you cheat to get into the country you go to college for free.
And, pointing out all this hypocrisy somehow makes us "racists"!
Nothing makes sense anymore, no values, no morals, no civility and people are dying of a Chinese virus, but it is racist to refer to it as Chinese even though it began in China.
We are clearly living in an upside-down world where right is wrong and wrong is right, where moral is immoral and immoral is moral, where good is evil and evil is good, where killing murderers is wrong, but killing innocent babies is right.
Wake up America. The great unsinkable ship Titanic America has hit an iceberg, is taking on water and sinking fast.”

I don’t know the author but this pretty much sums everything up for me.

Bigotry, prejudice and intolerance should not be considered pejoratives! If I despise and reject child molesters who think their kind of "love" is their right, am I a bigot because their way of life is different from mine? Am I sucking the tit of righteousness when I say the evil men do should be stigmatized as such? Aren't we ALL bigoted and prejudice towards that which we deem bad? Nothing wrong with being righteous, this society needs more of it. Ignorance and emotion begat bigotry, prejudice and intolerance. Facts, reason and morality bring about understanding and magnanimity.
"But what of his life? Did he accomplish any useful thing? Was he, in his day, of any dignity as a man, and of any value to his fellow-men? I doubt it. Bryan, at his best, was simply a magnificent job-seeker. The issues that he bawled about usually meant nothing to him. He was ready to abandon them whenever he could make votes by doing so, and to take up new ones at a moment's notice. For years he evaded Prohibition as dangerous; then he embraced it as profitable. At the Democratic National Convention last year he was on both sides, and distrusted by both. In his last great battle there was only a baleful and ridiculous malignancy. If he was pathetic, he was also disgusting.

"Bryan was a vulgar and common man, a cad undiluted. He was ignorant, bigoted, self-seeking, blatant and dishonest. His career brought him into contact with the first men of his time; he preferred the company of rustic ignoramuses. It was hard to believe, watching him at Dayton, that he had traveled, that he had been received in civilized societies, that he had been a high officer of state. He seemed only a poor clod like those around him, deluded by a childish theology, full of an almost pathological hatred of all learning, all human dignity, all beauty, all fine and noble things. He was a peasant come home to the dung-pile. Imagine a gentleman, and you have imagined everything that he was not.

"The job before democracy is to get rid of such canaille. If it fails, they will devour it."

- H.L. Mencken's eulogy of William Jennings Bryan

Was all he's accomplished given to him? Is it somehow unfair when a successful father or family whats to help their kids to succeed further by getting them started? To criticize Trump's accomplishments as illegitimate smells a little like envy.

President Biden stops the Keystone Pipeline ending 11,000+ union jobs, ends public land drilling and ends our country’s attempt at being a leading energy producer so we’re not dependent on other countries. He stops the building of the boarder wall which again ends thousands of jobs. He opens travel to the Middle East which contains terrorist cells who hate America but bans travel from some of our ally European countries. He’s done other things but these stand out to me the most right now.

Can someone help me understand why these policies are good for our country? I can understand President Biden wanting to phase out the pipeline and wall over the course of his administration because he disagrees with them, but to just axe all these jobs in the midst of a pandemic just doesn’t seem logical. I’m truly trying to get some understanding of this liberal way of thinking.

Sorry about not responding, I'm not a social media type (well, that might be changing), nor computer savvy. This is the first (and only) forum I've ever engaged in so please forgive my ham-handed bouncing around trying navigated this site.
To answer your welfare question, I vigorously support hardcore revision in all state, federal, personal and corporate fiscal handouts. As a general position, all recipients of tax payer's hard earned contributions can stand to do with less of it and more reliance on their own industriousness.

Oh these thoughts are definitely my own! I don't give a damn about their originality. Intelligence and experience give me all I need to arrive at a conclusion.
