A mans experience and his skillset have nothing to do with whether he chooses to wear a hardhat or not, so please don't conflate the two.

I make simple videos, of simple tree work. There is no intended instruction or training. No advocating of techniques or methods, and nary a word of my choice to forgo the PPE.

You on the other hand make videos with the explicit intent of being instructional, yet you fill them with lazy shoddy work, horrid subpar cutting, and unproven, unreliable, and unsafe techniques? All while selling yourself as some sort of expert in the cutting arts.

As someone who knows better, I feel it is my duty to speak up. Just keeping it real, and trying to stop one person from getting hurt at the hands of an intentional barber chair, or a swinging dutchy gone bad.

If you want to tell everyone I'm a hack for choosing not to wear a hardhat, have at it. That is your right Daniel, but please do us both a favor and never ever speak of my Karma or Angels again, and try and keep the "warnings" to yourself buddy!

In tropical areas, there are no growth rings as the tree grows all year long. Without growth rings the trees have poor hinging abilities.. Heard that years ago from a reliable source.

Not sure if that effects trees down under or not, but it will definitely be a huge difference if it does..

@swingdude

I don't fully buy it. Many tropical hardwoods have dormant seasons, aka Dry season vrs Wet, not summer vrs winter. Many trees do this in the desert SW as well..

Hmmmm, perhaps physical differences between early and late wood could make a difference in hinging but...still comes down to the content of cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, etc that will be found in wood with or without annual rings.

This is a good topic for my buddy @Graeme McMahon to chime in on.

Hi Mark

The topic is of interest to me as is some of the diversions so passionately put. I will make comment on my return. My 03:00 start is only 5 hours away for 3 days contract falling up the bush. I am camped away so no hope of contact.
I will give others circumstances some thought, as we all should.

Regards
Graeme

You better double-check that, Swing!

;)
Will do....did a fell today after taking off back weight and brought sides in to miss a lookout tower and diesel tank on new construction site, mahogany. Well splendid. 30" DBH with 28" bar. was about to straighten up hinge and she just tipped gently over. No drama.

Understood! Go make some sawdust.... we will be here when you're done (y)

Cool, Just watched it for the 3rd time. Your right you mentioned it kicking back..

How is it that you managed to overlook that twice????

Clearly you're missing something...

Even after I told you where on the video it was and then transcribed it in writing, and you still came back with "Just watched again... You didn't say squat ... Just a lot of blah blah .."

It's no wonder you're having problems with a dysfunctional mind like that...
I invite you to give peace love and understanding a try... see if that works a little better
