Stihl MS201

[ QUOTE ]
I have a 200 rear handle and love it. Not so much for climbing tho I occasionally do but I perform a good bit of TSI work and it is a dream for that.

Thanks barpincher, thats what Im looking for!!!

Well, just picked up mabey one of the last 200T's out there, it was a floor model...

looked at the 201T, but didnt like the extra weight, so grabbed 200T and didnt look back, since there hard to find new here in CA......lots of used ones on fleabay though..

I've either groown used to the 201 or have just forgotten the 200 but it is cutting well. Still doesn't seem as powerful based on the sound but that has no science behind it. I did try the new new 63RSS chain. It cuts great and sharpens just as well. The combo of them both is pretty good.

Remember when the old 10 lb 020 changed over to the 7lb 020t......They had a few probs but Stihl eventually got it right. The 200 t is the best top handle to date IMHO. I'm sure they'll get the 201t right soon. (I do want to seethe new t540 xp though)

[/ QUOTE ]The quote is wrong. Your answer (the website) is correct.

SO..........The 201 is in the shop. I have also had an issue with the saw throttle sticking. It only happens when the saw is hot. Not good since there is no way to throttle it down once its screaming wide open with my finger off the trigger. I know somebody else had this issue. I talked to the salesman who sold me the saw. We chatted for a long time and he called his Stihl rep and shared my thoughts. According to the Stihl corporate rep in Virginia Beach......Yes the saw is heavier than the 200. It has 500 less cc of power than the 200. They are talking to a master service tech to see how the saw can be tweaked to get the other 500 out of it. I told them, US/WE the customers are unhappy with the step backwards Stihl has taken with the 201, yada yada yada.........

On a good note, if you have tried the 63RSS chain, they are coming out with RSS for all the saws now. It is such a great cutting chain, there has been a big demand..

[/ QUOTE ]That was me. Or you know another one too.
My saw was hot too. I was blocking down a couple of elms and I kicked the saws a** very hard.

So to sum things up. The 201 is useless when cold and dangerous when hot. I don't think I can handle the small window in between.
Please let me know what the problem was with the saw Arborcare1. The 'revving when hot' issue and the 'not wanting to rev' when cold are both not yet fixed on my saw.

I bought 1 of 3 left at my local saw shop yesterday. I'm going to build a shrine for it in my closet.

If you are talking about the 200t I was able to grab the last one at one of our local Stihl dealerships. Had the choice to get one or the other (201t) and I went with the one that has proved itself time after time and that is the 200t.

Here is a little comparison between the 200 and 201.

I watched this video right after you posted it...is it just me or is there a major power difference? You have been running the 201 since one came available here in the US. What are your opinions of it?

the tophandle market is open and now just find out wich player wins this round.

Stihl MS200T was top number 1 for many years and from what I have heard Husqvarna is ready for the challange and probably beat the MS201T by far.....

we'll see what happens.

You guys need to remember the chain that comes on a 201 stock is 15% faster right out of the box. If it came with 63PS3. Run the same chain on both saws. PS3 round chisel like the big brother RS cutter chain, is 15% to 20% faster in the cut compared to all the 3/8LP semi chisel chains I tested.
