Is there a big price different between the 200 and 201?

its like what happened with the 440 and the 441. they changed the plastic design a bit. it looks like that new 441 styling.

I checked a few more dealers last month. One salesman took quite an interest and started making calls to Stihl, they confirmed the existence and wanted to know, how I knew about the 201T.
I just said “herd it on Tree Buzz”
The way the guy from Stihl explained it is In the UK all of a manufactures vehicles and equipment must meet their emission standards. No exceptions.
In the US Manufactures have to meet a combined standard for all their vehicles and equipment.
For Stihl, anything with a number one at the end meets or exceeds the standard we set for emissions and make up for the others.
The 200T does not, but gets by same as high emissions, gas guzzling SUV’s.
Sounds to me like it may be a while before it gets here.
But, good enough excuse for me to get a new one now.

Just picked one up today. 599.00 out the door w/ an e-light bar. ( I coaxed that out of 'em ) I'll run the 200 and the 201 side by side tomorrow and give my opinion.

Make no mistake people the 201T is not as good as the 200T.

They've been about in the UK and Europe for a few months now, climbers using them daily. Verdict - They're not as good as the 200.

I second that. It feels like there is less power. Even with the limiter cap removed. And I am definitely not amused about the clutch. That thing is not up for it's job.

Yeah... Defineitly buy a 200t while you can. Not impressed at all with the 201t, feel a bit swindled actually. The only thing I can say stood out as an improvement to me was the on/off controls, Stihl sunk it down into the handle quite a bit further than on the 200. Oh well, I'm sure it will be put to use someday. As for now, my trusty flock of 200t's will keep on keeping on.

P.S the flip caps seem to work a lot better than the old ones as well.

Takes 5 to 10 tankfuls before full pwr is realized.
i think it is on par with the the old.
I had to bite the bullet this week and buy the all new.
No regrets thus far.
I cut plenty of dead Ash Thursday and Friday needed some fast driving cuts to pwer thru some large and heavy Man. maples.
The all new is a kick ash saw.IMHO

Still need to remove the Spark screen and put on PMicro bar n chain and mb see if a different sprocket will improve things.

BTW if your chain is over stretched for your bar to tension properly you can put on a larger sprocket 7 to 8 tooth for example.
Really like the tooless filter cover.

Why didn't they put a Torpedo shape on the butt at the lanyard rings?

Stihl Most annoying thing is dragging the saw thru brush and having it jam up in crotch.

I opened the shop door this morning to a sunbeam shining on a new 200. I based that purchase on this thread and I feel good about it. Hopefully by the time I need another one they may have another new model.

I don't see Stihl build too many bad saws so the 201 is probably a very good saw.

And that will be in the stores... When??? April 2011? October 2015? Or April 2150. That is the most hyped saw I know with a release date postponed and postponed time after time (but I want one). At least that saw is not more heavy than "the saw to beat".

Im thinking about getting the stihl ms 201 rear handle version, anyone have one yet?? it comes as the C-E version with easy start which I dont want...more stuff to go wrong.

If I could get my hands on a ms 200 rear handle I would go for it.
