RopeTek Helmet Intercom System

Plus if you take away the reward and some of the incentive from an inventor or innovator you will get less in the future. Talk to any of these people for a little while and you will frequently become aware of other ideas and products coming down the line that you and or the industry will want.

Most creative people are motivated by something other than money but, $ is one way we vote and show our appreciation in our society. If I wanted to copy someone's idea and give them no credit I would do it quietly rather than purposely offend them.

Exactly. I appreciate Paul bringing these to our industry just as I appreciate X bringing the Antal rings to us. Innovation like that is a hell of a lot more than simply finding the product.
On top of that, Tree Stuff always treats me exceptionally, so I do what I can to support them as well.

I'd look at it this way then. I charge $100/hr for my time. I could save up to $80/helmet. The first 2-3 installs will be experimental so let's say that takes 3-4 hours. The last few, you've got your process figured so maybe another hour to finish up. $100x5=$500 and 80x6=$480. So if I went out and worked on my own for the time it would take me to do the installs, I'd have $20 more than if I "saved" money and did the installs myself.

I got mine yesterday. One was installed by treestuff on a new helmet the other I installed on my Kask. It took me 30 min. I go on Amazon this am and find a pair of Sena SMH 10's for $250 wtf? So I paid $220 for a set I installed. Am I missing something. Did Paul invent something here or did he take an existing product and start using it for tree work? I would have saved $200. I am not Paul bashing, I have a Wraptor and think that it is a great product. This is akin to taking a hiking boot and saying that it is a tree climbing boot and charging a premium for it. If I am missing the point please educate me.

I would like more info on this as well. I am in the market to purchase some in the next few weeks. I have been looking on amazon, or thinking of just having tree stuff do it. However, I really enjoy saving money!!

Berny clearly can't do math as it would be impossible to save $250 on something that costs $200- $230. Also, the cheapest I've seen the Sena comm units is about $150 apiece. Can you do it cheaper yourself? Yes. Is it worth the extra time? Not to me.
My math Is perfect dude... I'm referring to the system installed on a petzl. If you wanted only the intercom system, you can buy that on Amazon for about 89 bucks each. What is Paul selling his stuff for? How is my math wrong?

If I messed anything up or broke anything it would have been a huge loss money wise. Additionally, the way I see it, if I installed them in a even slightly less than optimal way the money I saved would have been for nothing.

I havent had any issues with the set I got through Paul. The muffs articulate, the wiring is fine and the mounts are out of the way. Im glad I was able to take advantage of what Paul learned from installing so many sets.[/QUOTE]
Siubd

sounds like a typical salesman to me

Berny, I'm referring to the fact that I can't find any Sena comm's for the price you quoted. And no, your math is not perfect. If you buy a helmet from Treestuff and they install the comm's, it will cost you $200-$230 more than the cost of the helmet. The most it would cost you from treestuff is $230. Check the website. Not sure where you learned math, but I learned that $230 is in fact less than the $250 that you claim can be saved. So I say again, is somebody giving you $20 to not buy them from treestuff?

Show me a link. And also realize that not all comm units are created equal. Tree Stuff uses the Sena SMH-10.
Regardless, you still can't save $250 on something that doesn't cost that much.
I would also point out that MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) on a single SMH-10 is $220. Does Tree Stuff make a profit? Of course. They are a business. They buy at wholesale and sell at MSRP. That's how things work.
Amazon on the other hand discounts so much that they consistently do not actually make a profit but they do so much volume that suckers keep investing in them anyway.

These work for me everyday and I only charge twice a week. Range is great.

We can let the sale man be sale man and the tree guys choice what's best for their pocket and work environment. Here's the entire system i use everyday and bought myself.....it saved me $ and works perfectly

Range on these Is 430 yr that's plenty. ..i don't need a aux for anything. ....it charges with a regular car charger. ...

That's wonderful for you Berny, but they aren't the same product and that's why they are cheaper. My issue here is a lot of misinformation. You cannot save $250 over treestuff' units. You can buy the same unit and save $50-70, you can buy a cheaper unit without many of the features (that may or may not work for your needs) and save about $70 more. I never disputed that you can save money. In fact, in my original post I stated that you could save money, but that I chose to go with treestuff for multiple reasons. Tree Stuff also offers a two year warranty, which Amazon does not. Buy whatever you want, but present the information factually.
