rope runner

And you FB'bookers know this already, I found a 120' length of Poison Ivy I forgot I had, ran the runner on it in the woods Sunday and on a prune today, f'ing awesome! Everything I'd hoped the runner would be. I'd been stubborn about it because I didn't want to buy another rope, everything happy now, wrench is on involuntary leave ;-)

@JontreeHI; So, when you say "a thirst for speed and high performance", are you saying that using a hitch with the Rope Wrench allows you to descend faster and with more control than you think you are able to attain using the Roper Runner? If so, I'm going to have to go to the Wrench compendium and look up your rope/hitch combo. That is high praise for the Wrench.

Now that I have the runner playing really nice I will say it has great fingertip control but still not the feather touch the wrench will do. It's a fine distinction but it's really tough for any mechanical to beat hitch performance when you want the super smooth one-handed/fingertip control.

I feel like I've had that level of performance with rope runner, I can remember specific climbs that felt otherworldly, but weather condition, rope diameter and bollard/axle wear, pulley drag etc etc all have to align. seems more fickle to me than rope on rope.
Tim- ocean poly 10 mm on Yale 11.7, and my hitch is I think a mix of vt and coopers hitch, 3 wraps one braid 2 twists.

Hi JontreeHi,that sounds like a good combo for a hitch. I think you should attach a name to it. In my opinion it is different enough to be new. Could you post a picture of it so I know I'm tying it right? Thanks Bob

It's an XT. The VT and the Coopers hybrid is an XT.

Just looked at a photo, in my hitch the twists are the last thing before pulley. same parts just mixed around.
A wise man once told me that you can take any number of twists braids and wraps etc and and have a climbing hitch. some combos work better however
