Steel is pretty bomb proof in good trees.

I see busted steel systems around here. Usually a large live oak. I don't know if they go slack and bust upon retightening, or if they just bust from going from taut to tight. It's possible that it was installed slack...

Why would you install it in a "good" tree? That statement seems a bit self fulfilling, if I may poke around...

the ash isn't that big or heavy..

one cable... no pruning needed...

.25" steel cable, as high as possible...

that tree isn't really worth worrying much about.
