Oak Triplets split.

Mark, you seem a bit more jaded and salty than usual.

I wonder if if has anything to do with the fact that the devils traded half of their farm team away for a shot at the cup and they couldn't even beat my Lil ol' flyers team?

What size jersey do you wear Mark? I'll send out a Gagne Jersey to help mop up those tears.

I'm so disappointed in you right now. Cheering for the Canadian team, that's just un American. I don't care if 90% of the NHL is Canadian, it's the principle of it all.

By the way, just picked up my new skates and stick. Let's dance old man.

Holly 42 years old , going back to contract climbing , gonna start competing . Get off off the bench , you missed the bus , call a cab , life ain't fare . All you Devil fans , while your watching reruns of Law n Order , Bant dant dant da dant , Game time ! We're playing the Habs not the Havs not !

Nice pics, nice job Riggs. Sucks having to put all that wood on brush, though. I guess the tree wasn't stable enough to rig the larger wood, right? Looks like cleanup was a bitch.

-Tom

PS Go Blackhawks. I can't possibly root for the Flyers or the Habs. Nor the Sharks since they got our Joe Thornton.

Yeah, but your goalie can't last. And the Ha bs are used to coming back, so don't get too excited yet. We are talking about the Flyers after all.

Nothing worse than a salty Devils fan . We didn't just beat the Devils , we retired the coach ! Comebacks ? down 3-0 , in the series , down 3-0 in the first period , Flyers are the comeback team . All Devil fans are closet Flyer Fans . Bant Dant Dant a dant , LETS GO FLYERS!!!!!

I hammered that tree , gonna finish it on Saturday. Tied it up , lowered it , Ghostbuster style. Truth be told , by noon it would have fallen , and smashed two houses. I did it for the high , pictures and beautiful ladies. If that tree fell and broke my truck or almost killed me I would have burned their houses down ( kidding?) . Hey , how about some preventive maintinence on your old tree ? pruning , cable , hello !

best thing ive read on treebuzz in quite awhile. go flyers!

Back off boys or I'll change your avatar for you! (Devils players maybe?)

Flyers always let you down so enjoy it for now- Bant dant dant... let's go Ha-abs!

When a tree is tri-lead, there is no need to use thru rods.. the traingular effect of the cables keeps the leads from twisting in a way that will continue to split the trunk.. Not saying that was an option on this tree.. just FYI when the right tree comes along..

What was that!... Oh excuse me... I didn't mean to interupt here with some intelligent conversation that might actually turn into a discussion that someone could actually learn something from..

Wouldn't want to make that msitake... Its so much more fun to listen to a bunch of grown men trash talk each other like this is some middle school playground... C'mon... what's taking so long... when are you all gonna start with the "your mother wears army boots" comedy???

I just wonder this... are you all man enough to talk that smack face to face.. cause I'd like to hear it... easy to sit at a keyboard and mouth off like that... anyone can do that..

Any supporting documentation on this?

Not until I write it..

think about it.. have you ever seen a co-dom with a split trunk twisting in the wind? its just common sense that a triangulated cable system would prevent that kind of twisting.

Apparently there is a lack of that going around these parts.

Like you'd think the moderators of this forum would have the common sense and integrity to enforce their written policies, as follows:

"not use this BB to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law....
So basically, please keep it clean, no personal attacks, no porn, no slander, and no posting of private communications"

When the smack talk starts all intelligent conversation ceases... Just re-read the thread... tremendous opportunities are lost.. In this business that could be a matter of life and death. This is no joke... no "sandbox" or romper room... Allowing that smack talk to continue is a safety issue....

For example the following intelligent statement could save a life down the road..

That tree wasn't as dangerous as it looked... especially working from the bucket... a chain and binder around the trunk split, or whipped with a bull line, backed up with a triangual support line, set some 10-20' above the split, with a MA system, would have made that tree safe enough to climb and rig from. Especially if you can start by taking some weight off. In 94 I climbed and rigged out a 80-90' co-dom ash, that was split as bad as that, on a windy day. Tree made these popping sounds every time the wind blew. Right over a parking lot by the cricket club on montgomery ave... When I asked Pete davis, who was going up there, him or me, he just laughed at me.
not that I AM questioning your methods. Nice to be able to land those bits flat, and no problem with the clean up as long as you have a skid steer. Just making a point about other options..

I AM sure there are plenty of others here that would rather hear that kind of intelligent response than all the smack talk. I hope you have it in you to let the moderators know, and ask them to enforce their policies.

Listening to all this smack is such a turn off. Its unbelieveably juvneille and extremely distateful to me. The bottom line here is that Holly is starting the vast majority of the smack, slander, and hateful speach. He is singlehandedly damaging this container, making it unsafe for those with thin skin to speak up, and creating an atmosphere where the lopudmouths dominate, which chases away anyone with some sense and experience.

If you want it to be different around here, let the moderators know.. It may be their house, but its only a party because we come here. Power to the people!

Please write it, with supporting evidence, instead of armchair arboriculture. There are lots of things that a person can figure.

Look at the landscaping cloth in the Landscaper mulch thread. To me organic material, I WOULD THINK, would make its way down through permeable weed barrier enriching the soil. HOWEVER, I WAS WRONG based on the supporting evidence provided by a experiment that I think, if I remember correctly, Dave provided where he had one situation (N=1, sample size one) where he had mulch with and without weed barrier. The organic improvement of the soil only occurred where there was no water permeable barrier. Though N should be more like 100, than 1, it is better than my figuring, correct?

PLEASE preface your speculation with something to indicate it as your unsubstantiated speculation, rather than positing it as true.

Perhaps you can submit it to ISA and they will put it into the Cabling and Bracing BMPs. Perhaps that won't cut it. Maybe Bartlett.

A triangular system seems like would prevent the leads from moving too far apart, laterally, but not really have much affect on a rotation twist oriented around a vertical axis.

What makes you say that twisting, rather than lateral movement, caused the split?
