I didn’t have to think about this as much in past years with my jobs mainly being pruning-focused and not involving a lot of equipment traffic, etc. Well, this year we’ve been expanding into a little more removal work, some crane work, and are using more equipment.
I’ve heard from others that they include a damage waiver in the contract for damage to driveways and other surfaces from the weight of vehicles or equipment. Generally, is this something you would recommend or do you assume responsibility for it if you are knowingly bringing heavy machinery onto a surface that has the potential for damage?
On the other hand, where I see the benefit in this would be, let’s say someone’s driveway wasn’t properly installed and cracked or sunk when it otherwise wouldn’t have, that’s not on you.
