more fun with knucklebooms

How do you like the knuckleboom?? My buddy has one, goes out like 50' not nearly as long as your's but it is a pretty big boom. He syas it OK for loading logs onto the truck but he would never buy one to use as a crane like you're doing. Whats your tke on them?
Does it feel like its going to tip often? Have you had any problems with it?

Hey Mike...Whats with the t-shirt...must be nice.....soon enough I will too.

Hey KTS, I love the Knuckleboom for lift out take downs and I'll never go back to standard cranes. The knuckleboom is way more manuverable and versatile. It's a crane, & a bucket truck w/ 100 feet of side reach, & a log truck all in one! Oh, and your question about tipping, it NEVER feels like it's going to tip.

Hey, do you ever ride that thing like a crane. I've never heard if that is acceptable or not. My dad has a knuckle boom, and I've thought about it. Though, it doesn't have any really nice areas above the hook to put a TIP.

Hey WWCtreecrew, I tie into it & fly almost every day! There is a sweet roller to tie into next to the hook. It complies w/ standards as long as your not tied to the hook. On my old knuckleboom, I had to use a clevis.

This burr oak Q. macrocarpa died a few years after being topped/hacked! (check out the trees in the backround in the previous photo)
