lost testicle due to leg straps

Update. I am home and had a wonderful thanksgiving with my family and have recieved calls and well wishes from the buzz family. The support and prayers I have recieved from all have been appreciated.

Kevin,
I just have to make sure the adjustment is right. I have a cougar now too so maybe that might be the next thing to try when I get back in a tree. The bad part is I work for a small company and we had three guys and the boss' last day was Wednesday so the crew is now down to one this next week. I will be back in the trees and you will see me around.

Jeez Tyler. I thought it was a joke at first.

Sorry about yer boy.

Maybe I need to tighten up those leg straps... or get a Cougar. Its good enough for Denbeau.

Man tyler I kinda had some close calls in the region of the body in other saddles. Now I let my leg straps hang as low as possible on my tree motion-just in case.Im not a big fan of sinching those straps up tight like some people recommend.Maybe thats safer I dont know.Sorry to hear about your injury that sucks,Id get a cup or something.Hope you get better.

I wish you a speedy recovery. I never used leg straps mainly because often when I'm outclimbing I let the saddle turn all the way around on my body so the D-rings are facing the crotch. I don't think thats possible with leg straps.

What kind of saddle are you climbing on?

A basic Buchingham tree saddle with no leg straps. I find it a great advantage when outclimbing to let the saddle spin around so I'm leaning into my rope behind me and facing my work.

Hate to get off topic, but if you got turned upside down wouldnt you slip out of a legstrap less saddle.Again sorry Tyler hope you get better.

That sounds spooky, and not very safe. Is your saddle loose enough just to spin around?

I am assuming he is refering to a WEAVER butt strap only harness with a sliding 'D' its actually a pretty safe saddle,IMHO

Back on topic, Horrible mis-hap but I am glad to here you are recovering well, best wishes!!!

I've pinched my gonads in the saddle many times over the years, hurt like hell, but never enough to do that. Man, you must have landed hard into the belt to do that.

Oh, it hurts just thinking about it.

There was no shock loading of the harness or the system in the climb. I ascended up the tree with a close system using a pantin. Sat in the harness for a short while to make the cute to take off a small 3" broken branch and then swung over and bucked in to take down another broken hanger that was bigger cut it and rigged it down. Swung back to center under my tie in and descended the tree. There was nothing abnormal that happened. It didn't get hit by any branches hard or didn't really feel pinched but that's the only thing I can think of. I didn't feel any pain till I hit the ground and unclipped.

Sorry to get off topic but the saddle is like a weaver 08-01030. If the belt is cinched up around your waist it will spin on you but there is no way of coming out of it.
