Geezers 2008

Wait, there is more.

You forgot about the night time rains that drove the treeboated out of the trees and into nearby tents and into the house, and what about the laser light show on the tent, well that person did fall asleep first and rule be DON'T. And the music At Ebb, Thanks Kyle and Chris.

BUT then we could tell all the storys and just keep the post going.

So be there next year and join in the fun.

THANK TO THE ALL

Thanks Scotty, you are probably still exhausted after housing us crazy tree people all weekend!

JZ - that's a good looking avitar, who is that handsome devil anyway?

Thanks for the pics, Steve; and thanks to you and Ebb for letting us crash at your place. Your room with the double padded carpet was a bit softer than the runner in front of Scotty's door. Thanks Scotty for the great time, and the t-shirts were nicely themed. Tell whoever stole my bed (ie, the west side of your couch) on Friday night, I'll get them back (see above comment concerning runner in front of door). I'd like to give a shout out to the Norf Kackalack crew (SZ, MoRice, and Jeff), it was great as always. Jason D and Abram, I'll see you in a few weeks (anyone else coming to the splicing extravaganza?. Kathy, Kristian, Jeremy?) Don G, Terry and clan, I'm looking forward to hanging out with you all again soon. To the Geezers: TC, Bruce S, Tom, Wiley, Bruce D., Tim B., JZ I will see many of you in St. Louis. Cheers.

We just returned from a three day tour in Indiana (avg. temp ~12 degrees), so now Windermere holds the coveting place in my heart.

PS, we'll be sending T-shirts to Ebb and Steve via Scotty. Ebb, Steve, if you see Scotty wearing a Limbwalker shirt way too big or wayyyy too small in the next few weeks, beat him.

The geezers 2008 was pretty dang sweet. No one got eaten by an alligator (sp?) or bitten by any of several species of poisenous snakes, and I saw an American Bald Eagle, the most american of all the eagle species. Good job guys.

Hey Scotty,
Ive compiled a small list of things I left somewhere in florida during the Geezers Invitational 2008.....
1. Green Patagonia jacket, old looking with one "cigarrete" burn by the left pocket.
2. One pair of tennis shoes, grey and wore slap out.
3. Numerous brain cells, may be irreplaceable, but hey its worth a shot.

No reward offered.

PS: hey Tree Rat, theres a new rat like creature in town, tHE marmot homey.

Oh yeah,
Thanks also ebb and steve for a nice couch to crash on, and if anyone has not gone to steve's website to check out his photo galleries, you are doing yourself a great disservice.

I have received a few emails about the way the event was scored. Here is a simple explanation:

There were no bonus points given -- except for those normally found at each event (judges' discretion). The scoring for each event was the same as any TCC, except for the added time (7 min instead of 5 min). What we did was to have different age groups (40-44; 45-50; 51-57; 58 up). So that the top climber for that age group got the most points in the timed events. Therefore there were 3 climbers that received 20 points in the two speed events and 30 points in the work climb (this was the bonus points for the geezers). Then in the end we still took the 4 overall top scores to go to the Masters.

So your total points are those compared within your age brackets.

If there are any other questions about the scoring please feel free to PM me and I will try to answer them.

I new I would forget some one and as it turns out it's two as of now. One is Sam Adams who supply this years sportsperson award. which was a no topping sign. (Street sign) I'll get a photo soon.
And Lita who donated all the T-shirts and saw pods and more goodies. Maybe Silverback can post her web site for us. Thank you and I'm so sorry I missed you on the first time around.
With all my Love to you two Scotty

OK 1 week out...I had a great time. It was great to meet some of my fellow buzzers in person and put faces with some names. I can't wait til next year.

It was awesome to meet everyone, and Ebb and I really appreciate all the kind comments. I'm looking forward to getting acquainted here on the Buzz and also at various events. Ebb and I are going to try and get to more events. I love the idea of the splicing class, and if I have any chance of going than I will. I'll get more details from Scotty. Scotty helped me out with an awesome saddle and rope and throwline so I'm well on my way. I've been practicing my throwline toss in my own live oaks, and I realize that I have a long way to go, lol.

I appreciate all the support and I'm stoked to be reprogramming the OUTCCTT.com site! I hope it will be ready to launch within a month or so.

Peace, Steve

Special notes . . .

First, to the KY crew (that could be interpreted two ways, but let's keep it clean! . . .

We had a great time with you all and are stoked to have shown you your first American Bald Eagle! We see them every day and we watch them raise their young, teaching them to fly and fish and it's easy to get used too it but we never take it for granted. I'm looking forward to my Limbwalker shirt and I'll wear it with great pride!

Also for Kristian . . .

You rock brother! "YOU CLIMB THAT TREE! DO IT!". Great spirit and I missed hanging with you at my house. Scotty told me you were across the street all night! Had I know I'd have ambled over and said hi.

Shari, you were great too. I'll always remember some of what you told me, and I appreciate your help climbing for my 2nd time.

I'm looking forward to more interaction with you all!

Peace, Steve

Scotty and I went hiking today to a Live Oak hammock that I found a year ago while shooting wildlife. Not being too experienced, I didn't know how the trees would be to climb but Scotty nodded his approval! I'll post some photos soon! It will be a great place to rec climb and we can camp too!

Yes, the long sleeve did it!

You're the man Scotty!

I have say my thanks here too. Life's been kinda dark for the last few years and Geezers was like walking in the sun. I made a lot of new friends and came away feeling like a different person.

Thank you Stephan, Jeff, Morice, Carmen, it was an easy 1200 miles with great company.

Thank you Scotty. Your family, the OUTCCTT and all the local folks redefined Southern Hospitality. You guys put on a great event and an even better party. I still have the image of that sea of sleeping kids on you floor in my head... that was just cool.

Thank you to my group... and everybody there for being so supportive in my first ever climbing comp... I feel like at least I didn't embarrass myself because I had so much coaching and help. Thank Sam, Bruce and Kathy.

Thanks to all the volunteers that made the whole thing work. It was amazing to see how much goes into a comp and how much cooperation and effort it takes... if only the government worked the way you guys did!

I met some great folks I've been wanting to meet and some I didn't know I wanted to meet. I'm not gonna make a list because I'll forget somebody. I'll just say this, if we looked each other in the eye, then you have a friend in Carolina and my home is open to you anytime you come to the Hillsborough, Raliegh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. I have a nice big double stemmed white oak out back.

Thank you everyone for a weekend I won't forget.
