Did he say the US ranks 7th globally in literacy? Not sure when this was filmed but I think it is actually far worse now. It should be easy to google various rating sources. Our own National Literacy Institute rates us at 36th place. UNESCO says we are 125th, although they may use a different criteria in making the assessment.

Why is anyone surprised? Trump proved repeatedly during his first term and any campaigning that 'serious, experienced, smart' totally takes a back seat to unquestioning, boot-licking loyalty. This is one of his worst liabilities as a leader.
 
Realistically though, that’s what presidents do, especially with AG picks. They appoint loyalists. Eric Holder was an Obama “bootlicker”. JFK appointed his brother for God’s sake. Trump earned the right to pick who he wants, though in this case he had better options.

In case you missed the point, this is the crux of it: Trump's lack of concern for any qualifications other than total loyalty, which further translates to his lack of concern for the best interests of the country in general when his picks involve people that even many of those in his own party deem woefully unqualified. The loyalty part is understood. But it should not be the only deciding factor.

Look, I don’t want to open a can of worms (or post a bunch of links), but the same can be said of Kamala. She ran campaigns on being “involved in” hundreds of prosecutions, but she personally set foot in court…. Let’s just say- very occasionally.

Whatever. Many (most?) great lawyers spend relatively little time in court. Maybe don’t lie about it though?

Kamala Harris was the AG of the State with the largest population in America, and a state that just happens to have the 5th largest economy on the planet.

This AG ploy is potentially for a CYA fir the past not a strategy for the future

By resigning his seat the release of the investigation is foiled. Puts him a bit out of reach from prosecution
 
This is beyond picking loyalists. This is picking mostly scared little kiss asses who are early enough in their careers that they will stick their tongues up his ass, or whatever he asks of them, without giving it a second thought. This is necessary when the plan is to do things that no reasonable, intelligent, or empathetic person would do. He will ask them to break laws, and they will oblige. RFK is recieving his quid pro quo position, and one that Trump doesn't have to tell him what to do, because they agree so much on that subject. The muskrat is this puppets master, and the better con man. He was clearly playing the long game when he bought twitter, because even though he lost more money on that deal than all of us combined will make in our lives, he got bought the biggest megaphone in the world, and used his outsized voice to drown the world in propaganda. The dumpster recognized that influence and rewarded him with even more power, which seems to have been his game all along. He got what he paid for, and now he can ensure that he- sorry, his companies :rolleyes: - gets as much of our tax dollars as possible. should easily make him back what he lost and then some, plus he retains twitter.

These recent cabinet picks of Trump's are ridiculous enough that this goes beyond mere conjecture. I would consider Matias's assessment to be fairly accurate. It has shocked even many members of his own party. One GOP congressman even referred to all this as Trump giving America the middle finger.
