I work to build foundations on which I hope some may build something better than we have now. I have no doubt that we're nowhere close to that ideal; it's a high one. But I am that monkey that will keep climbing to the highest branch. It's hardwired in. If I can't get there, I will leave a rope for the next kids to keep climbing higher.

You should study more history. Communism has failed and will fail every time it is tried. Forever. There is no debate, any more than we should debate whether the earth is flat.

The flaw of communism is baked into the cake: human nature. People are different; timid, brave, weak, strong, kind, wicked. The strong, wicked and greedy will always find a way to wrest power from the timid and weak. Always. Because, untethered to morality, they are willing to do things good people aren’t. Like kill tens of millions of their own citizens with impunity.

I’d recommend reading “The Gulag Archipelago” by the brilliant Solzhenitsyn or “The Black Book of Communism”.

You're not much of a "big picture" guy are you? If we were incapable of growing and maturing as a whole, we'd still be stuck having tribal wars and would have never reached the point at which we now find ourselves. Our story is one of continuing progress over millions of years. I will carry the torch now brother, and keep the fire burning. Every story starts somewhere.

Obviously, not all humans. I don't think it'll ever work as a top-down thing; it's gotta grow organically. Seeds have been scattered, and where the conditions permit, little sprouts will take hold. One day that tree will stand. I'm a realist in action, and I participate in the world, but I'm also an optimist, and I'm gonna aim for the top.

escuse me... did your read the story... Trump ordered the documents decalssified and then they went missing and have still not been released...

Was absorbing some intellectual philosophy for a bit there. Refreshing vs the general OP of the thread. There was a public statement by someone about Meadows treating secret info properly in response to the report of him being maybe last guy seen with the folder. Perhaps it wasn't (telepathically:)) redacted and published openly. Crap, I'm giving oxygen to the soap opera.

Daniel, don't make me re-live all the Trump vs the normal world chaos. Please don't take personal offence, it's just a mental well being initiative? Is that the right word?

First, I appreciate your commentary. We seem to agree on very little, but I’ve no doubt of your good intentions.

That said, if you want communism to grow organically, please consider me military grade glyphosate. Mixed with salt.
 
The good parts of communism are easily defeated by people who aren't invested. There will always be power- hungry people, cheaters, selfish people, etc.



The bad parts of communism are pretty easy to see.

Imagine if you want more for your family and are highly capable and driven, but told no matter what you do, and how hard you work, and however dangerous you job, you can only have as much as a lazy slack-off.
You can do tree work for the same salary as a flower- picker. Sound good?


Communism with your nuclear family is one thing. Communism with 10 million or 300 million would be different, even 500 people.

I don't want to further derail this thread, but I do have some simple responses regarding the viability of the communist ethos. If anyone cares to actually entertain a legitimate further discussion of the subject, please feel free to DM me or start a separate thread and I'll jump right in. I think the response to my ideas is short sighted to say the least.
 
This is what I don’t understand about Trump haters. I don’t like him because of his policies which are moderate at best. Who cares what he’s like as a person he’s just like the rest of them. He just has the vocabulary of an 8 year old. Trump haters are all offended by his mean words but are perfectly fine with chopping off children’s genitals or leaving our border wide open to drugs and terrorists as long as you talk about it nicely.

Excuse my ignorance, but who here said they wanna chop off children's genitals?
 
I think he’s referring to democrats insisting that we embrace what they call “gender affirming care”, which in some cases is the surgical genital mutilation of children with gender identification issues. You know, the same kids we prohibit from voting, buying cigarettes, or seeing an R-rated movie? Those kids are somehow fit to make life-altering and irreversible surgical decisions for themselves.
 
(I would note that surgical intervention is relatively rare in young kids, but not non-existent. Much more common is hormone therapy, which I would argue is also something which should be banned until age 18.)
