end of free speach signed into law by Obama

I am a CEO. I don't resemble anything like the 200 times what my employees make. The last time I thought about it, which I try not to do often, I make about 50% of the hourly wage of my top guy. I have a company truck, I travel when I can on the company dollar for education, I own "stuff" - though I am not sure how useful it is to own "stuff" when it comes to feeding one's family. The stuff I am refering to is equipment that has nearly no value once you try to sell it. Not sure why I don't go to work for one of the big corporations that are in control of the industry. Sorry about that, I in no way come ever see my wages being 200 times that which are paid to my employees. I know it happens though...

The larger corporations in the industries like insurance, energy, banking, law, transportation, religion and tree care are as corrupt as the system allows. Since they modify the "system" what did you think was going to happen??? Transparency would fix it IF we chose to review it. We are soooo good at checking facts. Pages in senate version of Obamacare 2074. LMK when your finished reviewing it. Answer to question to a med student read from a "couple of dozen to a few hundred" pages a week. I know doctors read alot, I would prefer they were concerning themselves reading about the latest research in MEDICINE. I see these types of governmental medling as doing nothing except increasing the overhead that must be paid to conduct business. The lobbyists - part of overhead. The attorneys - part of overhead. The CEO's compensation - part of overhead. That marble topped credenza - part of overhead. Pretty nuts.

I am so bitter about so many things in the system at the moment I can't even think clearly. Lot of smoke and mirrors going on - I IZ SOOOO CONFUZED! Just yesterday, my bank decides to hold a $1300 (local checks) deposit for 7 business days... REALLY??? I am quite sure both of those little checks clear my customers bank tomorrow. Makes me want to really investigate that law and who paid for it. Makes me ill along with the confuzed.

I have limited options about where to go. I shall this and I shall that. I have to follow their version of this or that because I do believe government is necessary. I do believe that society is so varied, that there must be something to keep us all in a fairly straight line. I keep my nose to the grindstone but my nose is almost gone.

Do you see this getting better without force? This would be the very last thing I would want to see in my lifetime.

If America is to bear the burden of raising the living standards of every nation in the world?

Then just be fair and open about the intent to do so, then make Mexico a state, India a state, China and so forth, ensuring their rights and standards match ours with no exceptions.

Interstate 5 construction from San Diego to Acapulco is projected to be completed by the year 2017 as this new American renaissance takes hold and spring break seems to never end as people celebrate widely shared prosperity unseen before in the annals of history!

Don't they?

Should we aspire to make millions? Some do. No a fan of penalizing people that make money. My married neihbor went into a hardship cause they broke the tax bracket barrier from one level to the next and ended up owing more than they could easily cover. I don't have that particular worry :|.

I think it should be an equitable environment. Kinda sounds like, gulp, communism maybe :|. We all know how that worked out. China has even had to embrace a bit of Capitalism. Still a hurting place with plenty of disparity to go around.

Need to get this BS here fixed before we decide to go out and "help" anybody else. We seriously need a kick in the pants! We will go no place until 1. The 'corrupt' system gets uncorrupt and starts making some sense with its decisions. and 2. Our lovely next generatin gets off their butts and puts a little work ethic into what they are doing. Meaning stop this halfway getting a task done.

Do I sound crotchety???

Stupid time.

Yes, you do. Almost as if penalizing people that make money is not how every govt in history has funded itself, including the American govt
.
What sort would you prefer, corporate cannibalism where the elite scam the stupid because they can afford it?

Jomoco - the elite are already scamming the stupid in so many ways!!!

I have noooo idea how to fund it!!! I kinda like funding by fines for rule breaking, but that would never fly. Like the consumption tax, kinda. Problem is right now they hide the taxes. How much tax is on fuel? Seems like a pretty good chunk of it. How much is fuel? $4/gallon. Not $3.15 for the fuel and $.85 for the government (no clue what it is). Years ago in a sociology class I was bitter about taxes cause they weren't with held and I had to write the check. Well the prof thought we were all paying 15%. I told him his math was off. More like 50% when you add up ALL of the taxes you pay.

Income tax is good for sure. I do not think it should be with held though. How many knuckleheads think that they file their taxes and the government sends them free money. Talk about snowed. If it weren't with held, they would never get it.

One guy works hard, he should get paid more than the guy that doesn't work so hard. The guy that works hard gets paid a bit more, so his reward bumps up to the next bracket ending up making less than the lazy SOB. That ain't right.

Now then the big separation into huge corporations - wow that is a HUGE leap in pay for a CEO.

Why are you seemingly blind to the subtle but nonetheless real shifting of tax burdens off the backs of giant corps like GE, and onto the backs of consumers individually, working or not?

A corporation, unlike you, need not die, and has recently been granted equal rights with mere mortals by their own treasonous judges on behalf of corporations, for corporations, till death do them part.

Our govt's hopelessly in debt with an anemic economy, but corps are realizing record setting profits with tremendous reserves in hand to lobby for a consumption tax replacing those old fashioned annoying corp taxes of days gone bye bye.

Jomoco

C'mon. You know that a corporation is "owned" just like property. Property doesn't die. As it is structured, if there is revenue, there are taxes due. If there is a loss, a bad enough one, the government gives you money so that you don't have to fire people or file bankrupcy. That is unless you are a privately held corporation with not enough money to buy the handout. Any corporation, especially if held by an individual, if they are wise enough, never have a profit. Goes to CEO and if they're smart, their employees. I am not seeing the problem with corporate structure. I see more of a problem of the CEO's having their company profitting SO much that they can dish out millions or billions of dollars in bonus money and dividends putting the books way in the red or leveraging the company and paying out bonuses on the leveraged cash. Shouldn't be permitted. O wait, I think it isn't. But hey, we morons buy their product anyway. We don't ask: "Hey, how is your margin so far this year?"

BTW, they do pay taxes on the gains, and income unless they have a great accountant OR tricks up their sleeve that I am sure they paid to put into the tax code.

The point - we purchase the product. Where does the money go? Do we ask? Not usually.

I answered the phone one time for a donation call for X organization. Didn't take but a second to realize the person was a pro. So I had to ask... Turns out that charity X gets 10 cents on the dollar. Yea sure here is a blank check :/

Sheep America. Are we P O'd enough yet? I really don't think so. Start to put the black and white in front of people and the automatically think you are a conspiracy nut. Like pointing out this law that the thread is about. Yea, they own us... NOT SO MUCH!!! They (government) should really pay attention to that as a fact.

Why I oughtta...

Every word of this is true. Who is responsible? It sure ain't the liberals... nope, that is the handiwork of republicans and their corporate masters... and they aren't satisfied. They won't be until government ceases to regulate business at all. As long as the preachers keep getting their say, all that regulation energy won't be lost, it will be turned on any individuals and social groups that don't tow the christian line.

Hey everybody! Let's give the banks a trillion frikkin dollars and gut corporate regulation while we focus on eliminating freedoms for anybody who doesn't buy into our religion!

Why worry, right?

So you can like, "totally relate" to GE not paying any US taxes as they build jet engine facilities in China, as well as Ford?

All you laid off Americans are just a buncha middle class union whiners anyway, getting your just desserts for aspiring to make a decent living wage in your own country anyways.

So you got no problems with a corporate entity capable of living an immortal life, having the same rights as you do in the eyes of your own govt?

And if that corp has an unlimited amount of money that it can legally use to tell blatant lies during our elections on TV?

So the rich undead vampire feeds on the living poor with their unwitting consent, all made tidy and legal by the SCOTUS, out of their closets and strutting their tea party stuff in total drag!

Cows and sheep don't revolt and neither will the American sheeple. There will be violence but it will be squelched by either private or US military. They are already approaching the Rubicon with the NSA and FBI becoming more militarized. If they start treating US citizens as terrorists, is that a violation of Posse Comitatus? Not technically but effectively? Yes because those organizations have top flight military components.

The supreme court decision allowing corporations the same rights as citizens was the proof of what I'm saying. Ever read 'The Appeal' by Grisham? It's factual fiction detailing how judges are (frequently) placed by private interests... plus, it's an easy, fun read. Once you recognize the mechanism you think, "Damn! That's EASY! You just need a few million bucks and you can clandestinely buy a state supreme court judge.". It's remarkable how big money can get stuff done without actually touching anything using private quasi-secret organizations. It's an eye opener.

Jomoco, ain't disagreeing with much of any of that. Do you employ people? I have serious problems with unions. Extortion in another fashion. Just one more big ole corporation! But it is for the worker, so its cool right? I volunteer fire and rescue. Put in an average of 75 hours a month. The union professionals are super well trained, paid pretty well and personally GREAT guys. Guess who gets to the call (most of the time) and treats the respondent with respect? Union? They are ticked cause they get have to get up to go to a call. They REALLY hate us volunteers (again mostly) cause we are stealing union jobs. Now, ya know, if I am a business and I have union, full time staff and someone wants to help me out for basically FREE? WTF are you thinking sending them away? Put out another 200k annualy X 6 X 3 shifts to staff an engine. That is 3.6 million for the crew for the year. Volunteers usually cover staffing in our station about 60% of that. It is serious cash. The UNION backed, with cash, a county board that has in his goals to eliminate the volunteer staff. Seriously. What kind of bone head polititian wants to jetison free or nearly free labor and up the budget for union positions? The kind that are paid to do so.

A responsible employer pays. Pays all the social programs that we should have. Insurance, dental, vacation, retirement, blah, blah. Someone has to do it because the poor guys that are lifetime employees aren't getting anything socked away and forbid if something goes wrong with their health. Are you doing that or is your employer??? Why wouldn't you (if you don't)? Cause it is expensive and you wouldn't be able to make as much or be competitive. I hear this all the time from all kinds of people. So they seek cheap, so they can provide you with a more competetive price. You take the cheaper route and get the hyundai - if they are still cheaper - not sure. Can I stay competetive offering this stuff - heck no. SO I up the quality and hope I can sell it. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't.

Personally I buy Fords, Chevy and Peterbilt. If the corporate morons would get a clue that fuel is going away and make something that is worthy of purchase, I wouldn't have bought German for an estimate car. But they play golf with the CEOs of EXxon.

I fly the flag, but getting tough to stand behind some of our really DUMB decisions.

A long time ago, there was a fellow that was being super vocal about NOT opening relations with China. He was an unfortunate guy. Ended up dead. Robbery they say. Uh huh. It was like a page 16 story. I don't read much since.

Guess who was in office?
