No. He wanted to but he thought other people should "roll up their sleeves" and pay for them and when he got caught he always said the the crack pipe belonged to the last guy who drove the car.

It's funny that Canada and Sweden enjoy longer, more prosperous and healthy lives than the U.S. currently. Literacy rates, high school graduation rates, less crime, the list goes on.

I guess some people want Palin-style idiocy to be the general cultural order of the day - easier to make decisions and conversations without having to think, and mistakes all excused on others (no self-responsibility).

I much prefer that we elect a member of the Libertarian party to office. Get rid of the IRS as we know it and the floating tax scale. Loosen restrictions on taxes and RESPONSIBLE gun owners. And get rid of this overrun machine called the government, reform the whole system, lessen waste and burden. Strengthen our military and stop giving so much aide to countries who do not appreciate it. We give BILLIONS to Africa as a continent, especially Nigeria and the surrounding region. They try to hijack our ships, kill and kidnap our citizens, and then run commercials blaming us for the poor living conditions! No more aid, and see how they do then.

Why are we the only country in the world that gives aid and rebuilds the countries we bomb and defeat in war?

Maybe it has something to do with the bunch of freeloaders who don't have to stress about the next paycheck or working hard for a living. Knowing that their neighbors paying 60% of hi/her salary into taxes to support them is comforting!

Kind of like our welfare system, but on steroids!

I agree with you BUll, however I feel that the government is a necessary evil. The government should be limited (no bailouts / stimulus packages). They can spend money on infastructure, like Mike Huckaby suggest, and hold the politicians responsible for their actions (as well as everyone else).

Yes 100%!!!! Sorry if I came off as not wanting Gov. It is necessary, but not as large as it is now. Much smaller and more efficient would be nice.

you all should have run for office yourselves. Each one of you seems to have the answers. What really would fix all of this is the truth; they should put all of the parties together and simply call them..."the crooked Party". this way we would never have to wonder who to vote for.

Bull, no one in Canada pays 60% in taxes. There is a very distinct upper class with all the bells and whistles. Homes with cabanas bigger then many family homes. Hardworking individuals who without the universal healthcare would be unable to afford what little they have. Here and in Canada corporations rely on that to better there bottomline and enhance their stocks all to the betterment of that upper class. Executive bonuses are based on stock performance.

If these executives would voluntarily limit their pay packages and provide a compensation package that included a living wage and medical benefits then taxes could be reduced. But they don't. Instead they take more, hide their wealth through a bevy of tax shelters available to them then lobby, cajole and threaten their way to even better circumstances for themselves but not the employees that are an integral part of the business that creates the wealth for them in the first place.

I would love to be in that upper tax bracket. Then I'd have 10x what I earn now to live off of. I think I could manage that pretty damn well.

The gap between haves and have nots grows wider daily and that is not due to the government or taxes.

Other countries also give aid to rebuild those places you bomb and defeat in war. That's part of the international treaties signed that have created NATO, UN, OAS, and any number of other organizations.

That aid often ends up in the pockets of U.S. companies who are contracted to do the rebuilding. Sort of a really round about way to a make work project. Ya gotta love globalization...
