bowline not as life support

I don't want to call you anything, Reg. I like you, dammit. Seriously.
Wish this thread would just go away. Gonzo.
Nothing positive is getting accomplished here; just polarization.
I don't like elitism. I started as a nobody in this industry, paid some heavy tolls to get to where I am, (still a nobody, lol) and am just hoping to be able to coax out another 10-15 years of this grind.

Tom I personally would never try and discredit anyone here on in person, you have met me and we have spent time together so have others on here....I shouldn't need to answer to Reg or anyone here I have been on here for a few years and have never been anything but respectful....but he said I was discrediting him...pissed me off...I am mostly on FB forums and am friends on there with loads of folks...that vid came up in my feed...I just mentioned it cause of the 201t mentioned in this thread and folks kicking it to the curb who obviously don't understand that saw...neither here nor there...but when someone questions what I have contributed well I don't take kindly to that....I said what i had to say...I still like treebuzz, but I certainly can live without it...never knew it existed till 2011...have made enough contacts now that if no one cares for what the swing has to say I can retire to my little existence...I am laid back like that being an island boy and all...now I been clean and sober 9 years this week, stuff like that matters to me...yis is just like the bowline.....another NOT

We are all grown ups here.
Don't take anything personally.
I come here for a good buzz and this
dodo is a real failure like YOYOs example was
initially meant to show.

Ward PNW trees wtf I'm tired of the bs around tall trees.
I climb one tree the reaches near 100' but has multiple leaders which means I climb if its 5 leaders with as many or more 2ndary leaders it can translate to a several hundred feet in a day.

Reg you talk about not being acknowledged well you best practice what you preach and most everyone should get in line cause from where i sit and read most everyone hates to be wrong and refuses tooth and nail to admit including your truly.

This feels like a freaking cage match this thread.

Ropeshield,

Yeah, I don't think climbing tall trees confers any kind of special authority. Reg made that point that large multi-stemmed deciduous trees are more complex and difficult and I would largely concur with that. Just trying to stick up for a good guy who was trying to make a reasonable point about how the bowline could be improperly tied and he got pilloried for it. Not trying to be unfair to Reg or Riggs either. Reg has great posts and vids that benefit us all. You can be frank with others without being demeaning or rude. We can all improve our conduct and it sets a good tone.

I'm out of this thread and back to my stack of bids.

Be safe out there!

Man Rope you hit the nail on the head....BIG this BIG that...Big Crane, Big Tree, Big Saw, Big Balls....Big Freakin Head is what it is....funny chit right there...Big Man but Small Pond Show...is what it really is....Tiring and Kiddie Chit..my 2 and 1/2 year old son behaves more Mature....and He loves a good tantrum....Whah Whah...I am so tying my bowline tight..cause this is like the Mr Greene thread I bet it goes 20...all over a damn Not....and I clearly state for the record Richard I understand your reasoning but I personally don't have your concerns....I do respect your stance...let's see what rolls on next....contribution my azz...lol, oh yeah all I got is my BIG SHOT....damn

I am sorry for not responding sooner. Getting my kid ready for bed right now.

Swing, one of the differences between you and I is that I do actually care. Hate the thought of being misunderstood or misrepresentation. If you say that you weren't out to discredit me, then that's all I have to go on, so I have no hesitation in apologizing to you. You heard it, Paul.

For the record (not that you care, as previously stated), if you think I swan around thinking I'm big time because I cut a few trees down, think again. Boy what I would do to go back in time, get an education and choose a different path.

As for the 201 video, it was not conceited or plotted.....rather it was impulsive. Probably not the smartest thing I've ever done but didn't expect near the fuss that it created. I don't have Facebook, but quickly became aware of views that were. Coming from somewhere. In hindsite, yes its disrespectful to the brand....but on the other hand the majority of messages completely agree with the sentemt in regard to that particular saw. So part of me says I should delete it, part says I've made my bed so should take what's coming. I don't know.

Now I apologize...thought you were banging on me...don't take that too well..I honestly am pretty easy going but when folks take what I say wrong and attack my integrity I blow fuses...character defect of mine...so I say sorry and move on...I watch your work and learn stuff, but treework is how I make a living not my identity ( not saying it's yours, folks can take me the wrong was culture differences do that )...I prefer father/husband/friend....family is my life...but that is me...no offense Reg...Paul

You were right first time, I was, and probably still would be. But realized soon after I'd took your post the wrong way. I won't back down only if I believe I'm right....not because I don't want to be wrong. I'm not that proud.

If I own brand x and make a video of brand x and I paid for brand x and I own brand x how is there any disrespect. I think when I go home i'll have a long talk with my son because he thinks tomato's are "yuck". He may even throw one someday. He should know that millions of dollars are contributed to the world economy by those fruits/veggies. He should know that by saying "yuck" he is likely to offend millions of people. He should be tought to keep his opinion to himself and not be disrespectful by having an opinion. However I would be a hipocrite because I don't really like my 201T and I think Echo saws suck. I'm sorry, I don't like liver, I don't like kool aid, I don't like greasy food. I'm sorry for offending you and my sons behavior is inexcusable. I will likely find some pennance to serve in respect to all those who love tomatos'

Really guys, is this what it has come down to? Who am I to say anything on this thread but it's gotten stupid. I would say if you haven't known someone persoanlly and haven't worked with them professionally, why would you even get into a big (pick the word) contest over climbing skills? Maybe the new program will weed all this crap out. I still don't know why I can't walk away from this thread.

This thread has given me bowlineaphobia. I've been in therapy since it started and now backup all my yosemite bowlines with no less than 16 half hitches.

Someone needs to take this thread out back and put a couple rounds in it..

OK Steve, I am like you some threads don't allow me to quit....I went to sleep peacefully got up made some coffee.....wife and kids out strolling in the tropical breeze on the boardwalk by the sea....I am very relaxed now reading this....Reg is cool about our misunderstanding....I like that..I am moving on smartly....I am derailing now...ha ha...that is why I like the buzz...I can have a little fun...Reg's vid stirred a little feelings for me cause I love my STIHL saws ( again NO hard feelings Reg )...Stihl are all I know TBH...we have a great dealer down here and it works for me...but the video did make me laugh, now that I remember...so it was not really a big deal it was his opinion, and you are right he should be able to voice that I WAS WRONG to use teh word disrespect but could not think of a better word ( lack of Vocab I said, water under the bridge now )...now I might just have to buy the 540XP to see what the hype is about ( I will )....however I have a modded 201t, did the muffler mod and timing advance myself at my Stihl dealer using their tool ( that is why I love them )...warranty void..new saw...anyway that was six months ago, the saw just gets stronger and stronger with each tankful, it's better now than my two year old 200t which my other climber now uses....I like it a lot and I am cutting hardwoods mostly...nice sharp chain...I have a lot of little clips I take at work, they are easy to post on FB and many guys have asked me for the mods....after seeing my clips of the saw cutting...Brad Snelling gave them to me on Arborsite...I had to try them so I bought the saw when I needed one and blam I am happy...wish I knew how to get a youtube vid done and post here....think I will start trying that this week....I have lots of footage so I can edit a few short clips, but I want to make a new one with timed cuts in wood...so now I might just have to buy a 540t and do it with all three...let's see what I can do so this would be a nice review ( still not knocking Reg's vid please )...just want to do something and post it so we can see what's up....That was long....forgive me...I love the Buzz, learn a lot here...good guy/gals all around...I can get a bit heated at times but I dislike being misread sorry for that...I will try to work on that...have a good Sunday all...

Good stuff swing. Maybe we can take this to email. I sent my saw to brad 2 years ago. I had thought the saw was the cats rear! I took it into the stihl dealer because it wasnt running at all. The carb was caked with microscopic sawdust. They fixed it but now it just isn't screaming like it did before. I have 2 posts in the saw area trying to figure out how to fix what the dealer "fixed" and probably brought it back to stock somehow. Now it's sluggish and boggs down even with a new chain. I don't know how to get ahold of Brad. I posted in saws if anybody could get me in touch with him i'd appreciate it. Maybe you can help me? If so steve.connally@gmail.com I personally have never used husky as the stihl factory is just down the road in VA Beach. I have not heard good things about Husky but thats from Stihl guys. Preference I assume. I love stihl! I have a 15 year old MS 361 thats been in production work as my medium in tree saw. IMO the best saw Stihl ever made. Unfortunately I feel they missed the mark with the 201T Anywhoo Thanks for responding. Have a good sunday yourself.

Just click in the youtube video at the top like you were gonna send it to facebook. You'll see copy URL. Click on that and then open a thread here. Right click and hit paste. Presto. Youtube on the buzz.

Ward, I can't comment on whether Richard is a good guy or not. You say he is, I have ever met him. My questions were not demeaning or rude, but fair questions. If a person starts a thread, they should expect to answer some questions about it. No different than a conversation in person. If a person starts a conversation, but then completely ignores your very valid questions, only to respond with a 'the right way' blanket statement as a closer. Is that normal ?

I can't speak for others, but for me thats unacceptable, niether in person or on the forum, which is why I called it BS. I'm not siding with Glen, why would I, its not about that. Shaking loose a fake knot, in a fake environment is not news to me....but it might be to someone considerably less informed....which would be somewhat of an injustice to the knot....which is why I posted, as I have every right as a member. But it wasn't so much the video but what followed thereafter (or didn't rather) that was quite irritating.

Now yous can rally around your friend, fire your bullets back about climbing, character, who can run rings around whoever....its nothing I haven't endured time over. There are those that do, and those that talk. All I can say about my situation, is that where ever I've lived, I keep getting hired, all through quite contrasting environment's. Funny that.

Not trying to score points or further stir the pot, just asking for people to look at it from all sides.

You need to put some hours on that saw before it comes good though....and pay careful attention the first time you use it. Start and run it as it says in the manual. If you look through my youtube account you'll find 20 min vid on the saw: http://www.youtube.com/user/Recoates Didn't seem appropriate to post the video as a thread on treebuzz.

I hear the new 201s are actually improved on the first generation, but have not used one know the difference. I had mine modified after a month of owning it, because it was just too slow for the type of repetitive work I get here in victoria....multiple trees, sometimes a hundred cuts a tree in quick succession. It made a big difference from stock, and for a while i tried to convince myself it was as good as a 200 with the spark screen pulled, but it wasn't. I think somethings wrong that you buy a saw and then have to invalidate the warranty in order to bring it up to speed with its predecessor. Sorry for the derail, I know there's plenty similar discussion in the chainsaw forum.

How many tanks do you think before she's running up to snuff?
