Anyone conceal carry while working?

Boom, I respect your views and opinions, and you. Tyranny was the reason behind the 2nd. If the government has such weapons (we're still talking small arms), why shouldn't we? We can't defend ourselves with out dated arms if we're up against modern fire power. Hopefully that will never happen, but it will if we are restricted to an arm of inadequate comparison, how would we prevail? History repeats itself. Tyranny is always ready to reel its ugly head.
See, that is just restating what Boom said-the tyranny you're actually referring to is that of George the third, but the tyranny you think you're referring to is that of the government of the United States of America, a federal constitutional Republic. No one, not the Clintons, not Trump, no one can unilaterally disarm the American people. That's not how the system works, and the "big government", "big brother", "unchecked feds" talk is nonsense. The federal government is composed of professionals and people we pick. They will abide only by decisions reached through our democratic process. If you don't like the results of that process, you are free to work to change them peacefully. It's time to stop worrying about tyranny from our proven system and start or continue to contemplate why we've had more peaceful transfers of power than any nation in history.
Aside from which, as boom said, firearms are more powerful than the framers ever could have imagined. Have you ever handled or fired a black powder weapon? I don't currently own firearms, but I spent almost 20 years is the reserve and some time overseas-I will take a man with a lever or bolt action over a boy with an AK every time. The technology is too easy to understand and replicate to ever truly be taken away. The question is whether you approach our society as a committed participant or as a drop-of-the-hat rebel. Automatic, and arguably semi-automatic weapons, have only one purpose: killing other armed human beings. Anything you can do with one, I can do as well or better with a manual action... except killing people. Why do we need that in our midst. I am an American, my blood will spill to preserve our union and the pen, not our division and the sword.

Unfortunately we don't pick our government. The corporate world does. That's who pays the campaigns. We are still serving the queen. America has been corrupted since 1776. Don't get me wrong, I love our country. Look at our current "choices." Trump or Hillary. We are the laughing stock of the world. The last president we had that was for the people was assassinated because of it. John F. Kennedy. God rest his soul and bless America. Peace.

See now we're talking:
". . . corporations have no consciences, no beliefs, no feelings, no thoughts, no desires. Corporations help structure and facilitate the activities of human beings, to be sure, and their 'personhood' often serves as a useful legal fiction. But they are not themselves members of “We the People” by whom and for whom our Constitution was established."

If you want to enlighten yourself as to what has been happening to the U.S. over the past 70 years do you friends and family a favor and pick up the dvd Agenda 2 Masters of Deceit. The communists are anything but dead and have infiltrated all aspects of our life financial, education, labor unions just to name a few. One of the first communist defectors stated the Berlin wall was designed to come down before a brick was ever laid all for western consumption. It is not about "right or left' although the left has been compromised by commies and now call themselves "progressives". If you don't think a armed society is a deterrent to a corrupt government try telling that to people who came out of those regimes-Cambodia, China, Cuba and Soviet Union- they have exterminated close to 60 million. Our founding fathers would be ashamed at the condition of this great constitutionally limited republic-not democracy(mob rule). The radical Islam movement was a creation of the KGB that trained them and also armed them but apparently their handlers can no longer control them. If our country continues on the path it is going it will be unrecognizable in a few generations and what made this country great will also be a distant memory. According to the Secretary of Education under Regan finally came clean and wrote a book detailing how America has been systematically dumbed down(Goals 2000 just one name it goes by) since the mid '80's. It is no wonder why our voting populace has no understanding of the cost of freedom or the diligence it takes to keep it.

Excuse me but the author of Dumbing Down of America Charlotte Iserbyt was a senior policy advisor in the Office of Education research in the first Reagan term.

I agree that my things are not worth a life but this is a personal choice. Freedom isn't free, many men died so that we could be free and our founding fathers realized that part of being free was having the ability to defend ourselves and our property. You cannot rely solely on the police or the military to protect you and your things. 1/3 of murders in the USA go unsolved. http://www.npr.org/2015/03/30/395069137/open-cases-why-one-third-of-murders-in-america-go-unresolved. We have a relatively large country with a relatively small military that is spread out very thin across the globe. If our government can't even keep out undocumented immigrants how are they going to stop an invading army?

By the way, I've had my door kicked in when my family was away from our house. The thieves took just about every tool with a power cord.
There's no chance of an invading army on North American soil. Freedoms are taken from within. Look at post 9/11.

There are 300 million guns registered in the US. I'm not worried about an invading army. "They" are already here. Don't forget the men wearing the blue helmets.

Growing up in the 90s in Canada this was my childhood too. It's really only in the past 10-15 years that things have gone downhill. And I don't think it's because the crime rate has gone up (it's actually dropped in both countries) or the real danger has increased. It's only the perceived danger that has risen. Nowadays everyone lives in fear of the boogeyman in their mind.
Remember when you learned 'sex sells'? I guess it still does, but fear mongering with a peppering of outrage sells better.
My impression after 4 years in the States is that Americans are angrier and more fearful on average than Canadians. Canadians don't think about home invasions and being prepared for car jackings in the WalMart parking lot. Could happen, but nobody spends time thinking about it.
I think Americans should keep all their guns. I do think though, that if they want to be seen as the Western world's cool gunslingers they should get competent with the things if they are going to tote them around in public. The requirements are shockingly lax.

We are the laughing stock of the world.
Just so we're clear America is the laughing stock of the world because, as a whole, you're considered a bunch of xenophobic buffoons. The fact that Trump even made it has far as he has kind of reinforces that perception and your news media isn't exactly helping matters either.

Personally, I think the vast majority of you are great and 99% of the interactions I've had with Americans have been amazing. But, I will say you guys are wired a little different from most of the rest of the world.

Our news media is very regulated and most of it classifies as propaganda. I have to leave this thread. I post in the buzz for the fun of tree work and talk with my brothers and sisters. Time for my routinely :D:D:D.
Those of you who know me know what that face is for!:)

I agree with you when you say that freedoms are taken from within. 911 did change a lot of things. Why don't you think an invading army is at least a possibility?

I have lived and travelled abroad. People's opinions vary of course, and I haven't been to every country, but the feeling I get is that the rest of the world admires the success of Americans.

I like the Taser thought Royce, depending on his state. I was actually just looking at them myself as a less permanent solution to the problem at hand. Now that would also depend on the problem at hand, they have a reload rate of about 3 seconds.

I like this idea, too. Like when the problem at hand is that they get your order wrong at the fast food joint.

Ok, on second thought, maybe I shouldn't have a Taser.
