Instead of starting a new thread I'll keep this here as a place saver for stuff about the J13 shooting.
Help me clairify something. I'm not a gun guy so I don't have the lingo down. Don't get bogged down on that.
There are reports of two different long guns being used in the shooting. One, an AR15-type semi-automatic. The other is an ASXR bolt action...cost around $2k
I was raised on the Zapruder film. Its easy to count frames to get a timeline for shots. Now, with all of the digital vids that were shot it should be simple to match the reports caught on cameras and compare them with factory specs.
Maybe I watch too many Law and Order/CSI shows and have unreal forensic expectations.

I’m hearing reports that the gunman was pointed out to law enforcement “15 minutes before shots were fired”. Videos of folks in the crowed yelling “he has a gun”….
Whatever the motivations the ball was dropped.
I have no love for Trump and same for Biden.
Some could call me a leftist, but that would require me believing this system works for anything above small town politics.
The backlash and fallout from this is really going to suck.

Let us not forget that differing opinions, policy, and political games are inferior to love. Our personal, structural, and life commitment – until death – is at serious risk. Political concepts are simple when compared to us, human beings.
We are all humans, and fundamentally, instinctively, we want to help one another. American politics are only one vehicle that can uplift our communities. Love, compassion, kindness and empathy are necessities.
And let us remember that when the time comes to look beyond the left and the right, beyond the red and the blue, we all come from families with the passion to fight for a better life together, while we are here, in this earthly realm.
Dawn is here again. Let us reunite. Now.
This morning, ascend above the hate, the vitriol, and the simple-minded ideas that ignite violence. We all want a world where respect is paramount, family is first, and love transcends. We can realize this world again. Each of us must demand to get it back. We must insist that respect fills the cornerstone of our relationships, again.
I am thinking of you, my fellow Americans.
The winds of change have arrived. For those of you who cry in support, I thank you. I commend those of you who have reached out beyond the political divide – thank you for remembering that every single politician is a man or a woman with a loving family."

I don't know @Tom Dunlap ....but I'm assuming ANY politician (or, in this case spouse) at least has someone helping write their thoughts and edit the text. I'm naive enough to think they are generally that politician's thoughts...or they'd fire the speech/essay writer.
Either way, I think the message of shared humanity is what's important whether it comes from Melina or Jill, Joe or Donald...or a random speech writer.

saw this crazy bbc interview last night with a witness watching the rally from outside the security cordon talking up the details, saying they watched the guy crawl up on the roof with a long gun and tried to get the attention of police
and from this angle it looks like the police snipers on the roof of the red building were looking right towards the shooter and were startled when he opened fire
Associated Press is currently reporting police following up on the warnings from the people outside the rally climbed up on the roof, the shooter set up at the ridge of the roof turned to point his gun at them, they ducked down and thats when the shooter turned back around and fired at trump.

That is very nice, I hope the victim reads it.
I myself live in a world where actions speak much louder than words, and her words ring as hollow as a drum. Where were these words of love, respect, and humanity when Donald was claiming that immigrants are "poisoning the blood of our nation", and labeling them "animals", and "not human"? "Vermin", if you will. . How about Donald continually making a joke out of Paul Pelosi's near death beating? I can't help but wonder how Melania really felt about her husband instructing his supporters to physically attack those who do not share their views and dare to show up at one of his rallies. And who can forget his incessant name calling. "Horse face", "Bird brain", "Pocahontas". The list goes on and on and on, and nary a word from the first lady. You reckon she was preaching words of love, respect, and humility when she showed up at a migrant child detention centre in Texas wearing a jacket with the words 'I really don't care. Do you?" written on the back?

I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured.
