Those who are interested in volunteering, Please send me an email at cahlum@yahoo.com or PM me with your name and contact info along with what events you prefer.

I know some of you have been on the fence to compete or volunteer so just let me know what your thinking so I know how many volunteers I have.

Thanks
Chris

Sure, any word on the official hotel where everyone is staying?

The site of the comp looks fairly close to downtown, I was thinking of staying there....

There has not been an official hotel set up. Its about 5 min from downtown and the arena district, same place where the conference was held. There are also a few hotels just north near the airport, not the nicest area and not much to do, but cheap.

There is lodgeing available for out of state volunteers

Then that downtown area should work fine. We were down there for a concert a few months ago and it seems pretty cool, lots of restaurants and thing to do.

A lot better than our downtown here in Toledo....belch...

See you all in a few weeks.

Great News!!!!

John Hartenburg From Knot Rope & Supply has secured a lodge just north of columbus for Volunteers and Climbers to stay the night on friday. It can sleep 16 and is first come first serve, so those interested please let john or myself know. There is no cost, but you will need to bring a sleeping bag or blankets for the beds. It also has showers so you won't smell on saturday!

That's awesome. Is there trees at this lodge for a little treeboating? I am in either way.

Can't wait to see everyone at the comp in a few weeks!

Regarding tree camping at the Scout Camp.....

I personally can't say if there are any good clean trees at this location or not. I have never been to this site so i'm just not that familiar with it. Keep in mind that after setup on Friday, and dinner Friday night we might be arriving around dusk or later so throwing line into a tree may not be that practical.

Then we will be scooting out of there pretty early on Saturday morning so pitching a tree camp and enjoying it might have some time constraints.....
In addition, the camp ranger may not be that cool with it.

Anyway, personally I don't care one way or the other......but just thought I would lay that out there.

So.......with that said then......

Chris is correct. We have a wonderful cabin for climbers and techs to use on Friday night.

The place is clean, has a shower, and won't cost a dime to stay there. It is also very close to a ton of restaurants and shopping.

If you would rather pitch a tent outside I imagine you could do that here if you wanted to as well.

The location is at Camp Lazarus which is a Boy Scout camp north of the climbing site. Website is www.skcbsa.org

As a side note....since this cabin is kind of designed for, uh sorta communal living, let's make it guys only....

I would hate to have some of you bring wives, girlfriends, etc and have some uncomfortable situations develop if ya know what I'm sayin....

Anyway, let us know if you need a spot here though. There are only 16 bunks available.....at this close out price they might not last!

John,
What do you think about tent camping at the Boy Scout place Thursday night? Personally, I'd rather drive up Thursday night and have a short trip to the setup on Friday.

*UPDATE*

Just got an e-mail from the ranger at this camp and he said he doesn't have a problem if you guys want camp via treeboat/treecot/portaledge.

Again, I'm not sure what the tree situation is like over there, so there may or may not be good trees for this.......what am I talking about......you guys will find trees I'm sure.

Anyway, it's cool.....If you want to sleep out then it seems like it is OK with the camp.
