Anyone taken the Municipal arborist test since the Urban Forestry rebrand happened?

I’ve just got the study material last night, the old book doesn’t jive with the new test domains. The general consensus on the Internet and especially Reddit is that the old book does not match the current test and it’s not a good reference. Anyone have thoughts on this? I also picked up all the...

    ISA Utility exam help

I’m honestly surprised, felt horrible about how I was doing the whole time. I flagged 30+ questions that I went back over and then on the way out didn’t even look at the paper till I was out of the building. I guess maybe I do know the material or something.

    Avant/branch manager rotation troubleshooting

See if you actually feel the solenoid / magnet switch with your hand to rule out a hydraulic issue before you get too far down the electrical gremlin path. It’s on the left side of the boom. I assume you’re on the right path with the wiring harness but you never know on a new machine now days...

Still doing storm work. Yesterday was apparently “short jack Tuesday”. 40° spread and only 20” extended for the tree of heaven on the barn. And then boss man helped at his friends chicken coup later!

New to us climber, 2 years in the industry. Never done crane work before. 3600lb pick. I did the cutting from the ground for the next two wood picks, 4700 and 3000lbs on those. We were good for 10k (limited by the single reeved cable, boom geometry chart was great) Yes he’s climbing on a...

I feel like it takes so much wear off the boom segments and knuckles. Plus it enables jobs like the first one pictured where I needed to lower the log straight down between lines and the guy, that’d have been hard to extract out of there.

Isa website so bad it’s embarrassing

The ISA’s website (treesaregood.org) is so bad I’m embarrassed when telling people that’s how they can verify my credential or locate other certified arborists. The fastest I’ve ever got it to load is ~30 sec of “verifying you’re not a bot” and other times it literally never loads and just...

    Industry related Spanish language podcasts

Ok. That’s your opinion. I work at a company that’s >95% Spanish speakers only. I’m the crane operator for climbers that speak strictly Spanish and yet we make it happen every day so I must be learning something. I’m amused at your stance here; that you’re so against this idea what you’ve...

    Industry related Spanish language podcasts

Yes I’m taking lessons on the app duolingo. The podcast thing is a suggestion from language teachers and learning experts as a way to help. I do trees, I don’t teach language, so I’m gonna defer to the experts and follow their best practices, same as we like when clients follow our best...

    Industry related Spanish language podcasts

Hola, buenos días. Im trying to learn Spanish to be able to better communicate with most of the workforce at my company. I’ve invested in a few apps and feel like I’m doing ok for a beginner, I never took a second language in high school or anything and have only worked at primarily English...

Exactly that yes, it’s foolproof. I prefer rope slings but at a larger company like this with a language barrier between myself and some of the climbers I use the slings that I don’t have to explain how to use. I also have a set of chain slings that I sometimes like to throw on.

    Protos coms system (3 units)

My buddy and I have been provided Sena’s so we’re pooling our protos communicators and selling them as a set. These are $650 each new. All in original cases with their own chargers. Very well cared for and the older ones are less than 2 years old (and the bright green one was purchased 8 months...
