I got these two setups working good today on km3 13mm. Rit on the hh2 straight valdotain and hrc on the wrench with a micho. I'm about 175 with no shoes or gear.
I got a little more experimental rec climbing in today on my km3 13mm. Got it dialed in pretty well on the hh2 with rit, and it accualy works good with a rope wrench too. Ran it with hrc on the wrench with a micho. I'm new to the wrench and haven't climbed with it on anything else yet. It does...
Ever since I saw it in person last weekend I have wanted some. Great combination of density and good hand. Seems like it will stay round in mechanicals. Might be my next rope purchace. It looks really nice too!
The problem with the cannobase is, then you have some added friction on retreival from the natural crotch above your r and r. I'm still just stewing it over in my head. I might have a chance to try some in a tree soon.
I should check with the guy who showed me the technique and probably should do some testing too, but I believe he was just using a alpine butterfly with a biner in the loop to knot block the big ring. Not sure what size his were. He was also doing it with a cannobase. So, the r and r is...
I've been using this, which I made. Or a much shorter version that I don't have a picture of. Knot blocking on the small ring and retrieval is so much easier than when I was running a delta link up on a ab loop. Almost no friction on retrieval and no need to have the retrieval side of the rope...
Btw, I picked up a fixe pulley and it really does work like you said. When I pull the rope up to take up slack, the pulley goes right inside the biner and stops it from getting misaligned perfectly. Thanks!
The eyes on that pit! Looks just like mine. Pits are the best.
The at height tether is what I ordered. I'll try it stock and see how it goes. Can you just turn it backwards so the rubber is on the wrong side and doesn't hold the wrench up? Or would that mess with it some other way?
I believe the rope wrench is the only srt device allowed at comps. I actually just ordered one because I want to give comps a try (never did one, never had a rope wrench) and I just can't see going mrs.
I never said anyone's aluminum ring friction saver cracked, but it is true and fairly common knowledge that aluminum is far more likely to crack from an impact than steel. It is also entirely possible for hairline cracks to form in aluminum. It can happen in steel too, but it is less likely. My...
I know ring and ring friction savers are frequently made with aluminum rings. I have never heard anyone say not to use them for srt. I prefer steel because when I pull them out of the tree and they hit the ground I trust that a stray rock will not crack a steel ring. An aluminum ring could crack...
Interesting thread. I wasn't around for it the first time it made it's round. I don't like talking on the internet about specifics of where to draw the line on safety. The reason is, you never know who is reading this and what they will do with the information. Life has risks. I don't think of...
Looks exhausting! Lol. I would shoot the line and use some binoculars to see if its safely set. Maybe run the rope up for better visibility. Then ropewalk up. If you can't be a 100% sure the rope is safe, you can always flip a lanyard/flipline up with you as a backup. I am assuming the tree is...
I spent most of my career on a split tail mrs system. I had a mini pulley for tending, that was the height of my technology. Untill last fall I was hip thrusting and foot locking to ascend trim jobs. I've spent a lot of money on new gear in the last year, but it was absolutely worth it! I love...
