    Basic Gear Needed for ddrt

Yeah I get that, but here in my neck of the woods, line arbs are forever trimming and chipping. Your area is likely not as thick with forests. I’m not sure what the OPs area is like with trees. We are smack in the conifer belt here, very low population and miles of 3 phase and single phase. My...

What rigging rope do you prefer is good.....

A 100 pound piece of wood can reach impact loading of 1000 pounds in a very short distance. The distance from your block to the felled piece will be doubled so 1 foot becomes 2 and 2 becomes 4’ the impact also increases dramatically with height. So the answer is dictated by the safe working...

What rigging rope do you prefer is good.....

I store all the ropes in buckets and rubber bins so they are easy to grab and carry and don’t tangle. I like something ridged, rope bags suck.

What rigging rope do you prefer is good.....

I just bought a spool of 1/2” stable braid and hacked it into 300’ 200’ and 100’ lengths. It gets used on most light duty stuff. I have some 5/8 - 3/4 and 1” but only pull out the heavy hitters for Big sticks or heavy zip line work. Why haul that up the tree if you are in 10” wood? Same goes for...

What rigging rope do you prefer is good.....

The OPs question is too general? I use several. It depends on how much load you need to deal with. Any rated rope will do so long as it isn’t overloaded. To me the trick is to use the lightest rope I can get away with and not be in danger of breaking it.

    holy SHIT !!!

I’d imagine a tank or pit could be bridged using 6x8” wooden ties with a plate on top to spread the load. I know around here that if the owner has a dry well, septic tank, septic field or oil tank below ground, must be registered with the provincial health authority. The location is referenced...

    Mini vs GRCS

Some of them don’t, but many of the fast boats are fitted with them. Some are electric autos too. In any event it must be understood these devices can severely overload a system.

So I think we are in agreement, more of a novelty thing than a practical one. Could lead to innovation though?

But I do think foot ascenders and the like are still required to be tested for use in a commercial industry. I know petzyl and other companies have their gear engineered and it needs to pass inspections before sale to the public / industry. But again I could be wrong?

    Mini vs GRCS

The massdam is not a capstan winch as far as I know. The winch used on the GRCS is designed for sailing boats, mostly racing yachts. It’s purpose is to haul sheets or pull up sails under really high loads and be able to release them under control and quickly. Whatch any major sailin race and...

    Sasuke climbing tool

What I’m suggesting is that it’s probably fine for use recreationally, but I have a hard time thinking WCB would be good with it? Maybe I’m wrong?

Neither is this new battery powered ascender yet it required certification? Still needs backup of some kind?

    Strongest Choked configuration?

This industry is different in some respects due to the UNKNoWn factors. In the case of rigging a rock and roll show in a stadium, every factor is known, the building design, the anchor ratings, the load factors all of it sonthey are very specific when it comes to How it’s gonna be done! I our...

    Basic Gear Needed for ddrt

One common thing that happens to beginners is they freeze up when in small wood really high up. Let me be clear here, this is really dangerous! When you get 150’ off the ground in wood that is as wide as your forearm it can be really spooky. I’ve been doin this game for many years and it still...
