Bzr if you could barely reach that tells me DEFLECTION was the issue. Generally the longer the radius and the smaller the crane, the more deflection you will have. Would be tough for the OPP to judge without some kind of load monitoring or alarm. He would probably rather have a few pop up...

My 2004 Ef' 1750 has anti tilt.....now can Palfinger and the others lose some of the unnecessary bulk, get decagonal extensions, improve the welds on the extensions....that's just to start! Then I would have to give them a look. :)
