Looking for a new climbing harness - 75% spur removals on doug firs, but also SRT, etc

The velcro thing on the waist is actually quite comfy ... like a well-made girdle haha! The Ergolite also has optional dorsal attachment suspenders, for running a bucket truck, or hanging big saws off your saddle for 6 hours whilst you block down that f$%^in 150ft, 48" fir into Ms Johnson's...

Looking for a new climbing harness - 75% spur removals on doug firs, but also SRT, etc

The ergolite is very similar to the ergovations but lacks the bulky leg velcros. Very practical, comfortable and hard wearing saddle for PNW conifer work. Just make sure you get the right size and you'll be golden

    CCW while you climb?

    Akimbo vs BDB

The rope runner is harder / more inconvenient to take off in the tree The akimbo is a breeze.. quick, easy, nothing to drop If you climb trees with sap the akimbo is rough as shit. I keep my akimbo for clean trees and climb the nasties on my rope wrench

    Decisions Decisions

SRT is nice ... If you want to keep it simple with DdRT (MRS) then the Hitch climber combo with the Fimblsaver is a great low cost, bulletproof option

    Consulting arborist questions

There is money to be made, but not "without actually having to do any work" Spending 6-8 hours behind a screen typing up reports can be more draining than a full on day of massive removals

    Graeme McMahon's Age

Not in my experience! mind you, most of the ones I remove as a contract climber are in stages of advanced decay from various pathogens ... They vary between crispy and spongy.

Not the tool I mean using it when the log is clearly too large The tool is wonderful, I love it ! Now where I'm working we have winch access on most jobs and just use the winch cable wound around the log to roll it as necessary

    Cant Hook

I mean ... By the time you're pushing hard enough to break the wooden ones you won't be rolling a log that big I have pushed with two guys on the Peaveys until some fibers snapped... Largely unnecessary and ineffective tool though

Ring vs Carabiner w/ Pulley for Bridge

It's more about the weight of the carabiner and it's predisposition to fall down between loading and unloading I personally love a small green DMM ring and a DMM PerfectO. Super small size and tidy setup when paired with an akimbo

    Chainsaw Pants for the summer?

Really? They've got that super stretchy gussetted crotch ... I'd be willing to be there was some kind of weird tension / leg loop configuration that "pulled" it apart. I've done full front splits in the pfanner pants ... in fact before i bought them, i called the canadian pfanner rep and...
