Sorry for the delayed response I have been extremely busy.
Royce: If you hold a NYS Crane Operator Certificate of Competence, You do not need an NCCO CCO or other.
mikecutstrees; There is no exemption in NYS for trees(if you know of any I would love to see it)
Here is a response from the...
I agree with the longer rope too. If something happens to the crane or you run into bees on the way in you need to be able to reach the ground with the drt from the crane. I use 150' in a bag.
Royce,
I still disagree. The overload system on my new crane will let you know if you picked too big a piece...I look at it the opposite way. If you don't use the chart and take too big a piece what good is knowing what it weighed then. An lmi is just easier to look at and gives you an...
This was my 12 ton RO TC-125 92' with the swing out jib and the pull out extension. Did a lot of work with it.
I hear many people who think a jib is dangerous and wont use it or don't like to. This is ridiculous! A jib or extension is much safer because it allows you more reach so you can pick a...
This is a good thread. Only disagreement I have is with the comment of a load chart being useless in tree care. My old crane and my current crane have load charts but neither had an lmi or anything else to tell me what the piece weighed. But through green weight charts, experience, and staying...

I talked to the crane op on the job. He said nothing of horse play. He said the brush was chipped up and the victim was raking. Another person was on the other side of the chipper with a dingo. Crane op moved crane to get another piece of wood and when he swung back the incident had already...
I have used the standard signals for boom up and down and extend or retract. The only difference for the fly jib being raising the signal hand over the head for the jib and at normal height for the 2nd boom.
You would have to be careful how a new rule was worded though. My first day on the job for a new company would be different than a persons first day ever.
