I have the Cinch and really like it, though now I use it on a basal anchor. Did you watch the videos that I posted for the product? My gut feeling is that these folks have put a whole lot of thought into the design of this product, and it should probably be used in the manner that is...
@JeffGu; Here's a link to their second video about the product, oriented more towards rock climbers, but to me it was really interesting to watch. Thanks.
Tim
Hey, @JeffGu! I was wondering if you've heard of this device from Trango? It might be meant as a replacement for the Cinch? I'd love to hear your impressions about the device. They have a video on this web page I'm about to post. I'll try to post links to both, if the moderators don't mind...
Hey, JeffGu! Interesting topic, thanks for sharing your results with the various devices! On the topic of solo rigging, I was wondering if you've ever come up with an effective way to remotely release a rigged load while you are still up in the tree, and the load has already made its way to...
@Mowerr; My method for posting a link to a web page is to go to the top of the page I'm on and right click on the address bar, if you know what that is. It's the line at the top of the page that shows your current location on the internet. Once I right click with my mouse, I get a "drop-down"...
Hey, evo! Could you tell me what you did to stop the barber chairs that were in progress? Was it just a matter of cutting faster to finish the back cut? Thanks in advance.
Tim
This is a brilliant piece of work. Thanks for posting the photos, words alone would have made it too hard to convey the idea. I might just give this a try. Does this arrangement tend pretty well? Thanks.
Also, thanks for the idea of using a steel biner for throwing vertical when using...
I love you too, Rico. You are right. I was conflating what he said in the video with what he had written later in the comments section of this YouTube video. He did say that he wanted the tree to end up in the street at the end, but it was only in the comments that he mentioned an intention...
Hey, rico! Thanks for sharing your opinions on this. Let me start by saying I'm not fit to tie your boots, and I know it. I do still want to learn, though. My guess is that Murphy has never seen "men hit stumps, break wood, and send chunks the size of a 2 ton truck 60-80 ft in the air."...
@Mowerr; I guess my feeling when I read the above post is that if you would not want to have to deal with a bunch of randomly dropped trees yourself, you should probably not inflict that on your customer. You could tell them what will happen if you drop them as quickly and cheaply as possible...
@Chaplain242; If you do not mind my asking, what is your preferred termination knot, the one you most readily trust with your life? Thanks in advance for any answer you choose to provide.
Tim
Thanks for taking the time to answer, @Sawjocky. So I'm inferring that he did indeed drop roughly fourteen trees in three days of work. It is possible that he did for the customer exactly what he said he was going to do.
The customer just might not have realized what that would look like...
I tie a stopper knot about two arm lengths of rope from the end of my rope every time I climb, as a matter of habit, now. That leaves enough rope below you to easily clip on a foot ascender and climb back up to make whatever changes need to happen to enable one to get back down to the ground...
Sorry for quoting my own post, but I don't think @Sawjocky answered my question yet. I'm not sure if it's just an oversight, or if he does not care to answer the question. I'd appreciate it if he were willing to do so, though. Thanks.
Tim
@Mwelander; Lots of interesting and useful advice in this thread. I'm not sure whether or not dehydration plays a part, but the use of electrolyte powders in your drinking water, or just buying ready-made products like Pedialyte, can prevent or relieve muscle cramping.
I'll leave a link here...
@Sawjocky; So, are you saying that this person dropped fourteen trees in three days for a total cost to the customer of $3,500.00? Or did he just drop one tree for $250.00, and it took him three days to do that? Thanks in advance for any answers you choose to provide.
