    5/10's have the best grip I've ever used,got the clip n step and felt they are slippery in comparison,but far more comfortable than my tenny guides. Is the evo 2 similar fit as the clipnstep?

    That's nutty,were you possibly putting your half hitch on in wrong direction of your running bowline? That's my go to method and though I've had a few slip off,nothing like you experienced and definitely not on cottonwood.
