I have a 150' zipline made from 3/8" steel cable. It goes over a 45' deep ravine on my backyard. Thats why I'm building a rope bridge in another thread. It's about a 150 yard uphill walk to get back to the start. I did a lot of research and found ziplinegear.com to have some very helpful info...
You can make your own zipline tree savers out of 2x4's and a cam strap. Check out this link, they mention a DIY option in the description:

Tree climbing noobie here just wanting to be clear on what exactly is meant by the term "spar".
Is a spar just a tree that has had all of the limbs and the top cut off from it, and all that is remaining is basically a big stick in the ground?
Not talking about a rope bridge on a tree climbing saddle but an actual bridge made of rope in my backyard. Actually made of steel cable, rope and 1" thick Trex decking boards.
I'm using 3 lengths of 3/8" steel cable spaced 12" apart and anchored to a big tree on one end, and 48" deep...
Well not junk rope, I'm just looking for cheap stuff.
I'm building a rope bridge in my backyard out of steel cable. But I need a handrail on both sides of the bridge about 4 feet high. I would like that handrail to be made from rope not steel cable so it's easier on your hands. I have a...
A question for you all...
Early on in this thread, a few of you mentioned that you could tell from watching his video that his chain was dull and too tight. I know how you could tell his chain was dull, but how can you tell it was too tight?
My advice... Come up with a better story. Shark attack? Knife fight in Russia? Grizzly ate it? Disarming a bomb? Saved a kid from an alligator?
Feel free to use any or all.
Thanks to both of you, I won't top it, I may clean it up a little though, and yes I'm in Hudson @TCtreeswinger , If I need some help, I'll let you know.
I have a big ravine in my woods. It's about 900 feet long, 45 feet deep, and about 40 feet wide. I already have a zip line going across it, now I want to build a rope bridge across it also. I think I've found the perfect spot to put it and there is a 40-50' +2' Oak tree on both sides to...
I have a Central Boiler 6048. I just finished my 11th season with it and am very happy with it. The only thing I don't like about mine is, I wish it had some way to see what the water temp was from inside the house. I don't think any of them have that feature, but people are getting creative...
Is there a good online seller that I can order seedlings from fairly cheap? Looking for something fast growing like Norway Spruce or something. Not sure if online is the way to go or not, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
Sewing is very useful. My mother in law let me borrow her sewing machine since she never used it. I learned how to use it and made a shooting mat, some bags for camping, and modified a backpack. Then her other daughter took it. I'd love to get another one someday, they're so handy to have.
Yeah I think I'm going to try explaining it to him then show him that YT video of the guy cutting 2" trees with a handsaw. I think it's a deer habitat video or something.
Edit: this one
I've been cutting like 15 cords a year for the past 11 years ever since I bought my outdoor wood burner. My older brother has been cutting about 15 years longer than me for his outdoor wood burner. I was walking on his property today and noticed he drops trees with angled back cuts and poor...
I used to use what ClimbStihl posted, but found an REI chest harness in my closet that I'd got a long time ago. I like it a little bit better. They don't sell it anymore but It's almost exactly like the Petzl Voltige Chest Harness.
I use a keychain carabiner and swivel dog snap but would...
